Timeform View

MAGNOLIA is going through a good spell and with race fitness on her side, she narrowly shades the vote over interesting handicap debutant Tap Tap Shamie.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Timeform Comments

Tap Tap Shamie (IRE)
Winning Irish pointer who went close in a strong Wincanton maiden (2m, soft) on hurdling debut. Subsequently turned over by a promising one at Carlisle before completing a simple task at Hexham in May. Opening mark a tempting one and there could be even better to come given his profile/connections.
Star Of Guiting (IRE)
Strong traveller. Proved a different model for current yard when landing back-to-back races at Musselburgh in January. Subsequently shaped better than the result in stronger handicaps than this. Returns in first-time hood following a breathing operation and could have bigger targets down the line.
Double Oban
Advanced his form when landing fifth career 2m handicap hurdle success at Leicester (heavy) in December. Again looked to be crying out for a step up in trip when well held over C&D final start last season. This may not be enough of a test (even with forecast rain) and looks the stable second string.
Shooting (FR)
Fairly useful Flat winner. Opened his hurdle account with a fair performance in France last spring. Switches to a handicap following underwhelming stable debut in the listed Wensleydale at Wetherby this time last year and disconcerting that he's been off since.
Marty Mcfly (IRE)
Thriving when completing chase 4-timer with fairly useful effort at Carlisle in March and was likely over the top at Ayr the following month. Now returns to the C&D of his sole previous hurdle success off 7 lb lower than his chase mark. Presumably a pipe-opener, unless market suggests otherwise.
Magnolia (FR)
Back-to-back 2m winner at Kelso last season. Picked up where she left off when 1½-length third in a solid C&D handicap on return last month. Remains interesting off 2 lb below her latest winning mark for in-form yard, with forecast rain no harm for one who stays further.
Linalene (FR)
Lightly-raced 5-y-o. Left previous hurdle form behind when pushing an odds-on winner close at Ayr (2m, heavy) in February. Bumped into one over the same C&D final start last season. Opening mark a fair one on return from a breathing operation and worth noting for yard capable of readying one.
Matching Energy
Made it 2-2 in bumpers when winning on Rules debut at Hexham last June. Got back on track for step up in trip/first-time hood when nearly belying unflattering odds on handicap hurdle bow at Carlisle (19f, good) in April. Still early days and weighted to at least be competitive if ready to roll.
She's Notjoeking
Dictated to double her hurdle tally in a modest Newcastle handicap in February. Still in form when snatching defeat from the jaws of victory (idled markedly run-in) at Hexham in April. May again get the run of the race back up in grade/against the boys, though is usually better for her reappearance.
