BIG BARD wasn't able to build on the promise of his previous effort when beaten favourite at Kempton last time, but he's worth another chance from what is a handy mark back at this venue. He gets the vote ahead of Valadero, who had excuses on his latest outing, with Stock Market completing the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Grand Citadel (IRE)
Has benefited from the refitting of blinkers this season, doubling her tally when making most at Leicester (7f) in May. Found things tougher up in grade both starts since, so she could fare better returned to this level after 3 months off.
Danger Alert
Made the frame for first time since joining current yard when fourth of 9 in handicap at Yarmouth 10 days ago. Needs to be able to build on that effort if he's to end his lengthy losing run.
Bessie Wallis (IRE)
Winner of a Lingfield novice (5f) on third outing last year for David Menuisier. However, her form has gone the wrong way in handicaps since, faring no better in 3 starts for her current yard.
Roman Spring (IRE)
Reverted to going from the front when getting off the mark for the year at Windsor (5f) in September. Followed up under the same tactics at this course, but wasn't able to lead when sixth of 9 here last time. Looks to be other pace angles in this race as well.
Stock Market
Not straightforward but in first-time cheekpieces he ran up to his best when second of 9 in handicap over this C&D 9 days ago. Still looking for a breakthrough success, though he could be in the mix with blinkers back on.
Big Bard
Dual C&D winner who made a successful start to the year at Kempton. Struggled for form subsequently but there were better signs at Lingfield (5f) last month. Failed to build on that at Kempton (6f), though he's eased further in the weights as a result. Interesting back here.
Bonnita
Landed a Salisbury handicap last autumn but yet to fire in 3 starts on all-weather this year, well held at Lingfield (7f) 5 weeks ago. Cheekpieces now reached for.
Rianka
Showed much improved form back up to 6f when making her second handicap start a winning one at Yarmouth in July. Hasn't been able to match that form in 2 starts since, though, fifth of 10 at Lingfield last month.
Unico
Sole success last year came at this course in September. Hasn't offered much so far this season, though had been off 3 months before finishing eighth of 12 at Windsor in September. Is now 5 lb below last winning mark if return to this venue helps spark a revival.
Mart
Losing run is mounting up, but making fifth start for this yard he ran well with blinkers added when second of 5 in handicap at Lingfield (5f) in September. Below form in 2 starts since, though had a wide trip round at the same course last time. Headgear now left off.
Valadero (IRE)
Belatedly off the mark in a 7f classified event at this course in August. Again ran well when second at Yarmouth (6f) next time, before getting caught wide when mid-field back in a handicap here (6f) 9 days ago. No surprise to see him bounce back.
