Timeform View

GROVE STREET sets a fairly useful standard to aim at so, provided he takes to the all-weather, Brian Meehan's colt could be a tough nut to crack returned to calmer waters. He gets the vote over Heno, who showed promise amidst greenness when third in a Leicester maiden last month and is entitled to improve. King Ida and Forged Ahead both look newcomers to note and market support for either may well prove significant.

Timeform Comments

Ahmadi (IRE)
€110,000 yearling, St Mark's Basilica colt who went backwards from debut despite his pedigree when seventh of 9 in novice at Salisbury (1m, good to soft) 6 weeks ago. Needs to leave that well behind returned to all-weather.
Chertsey (IRE)
Churchill gelding who offered little when last of 6 in novice at Salisbury (7f, good to firm) on debut back in July. Likely to flourish at a later stage.
Close Circle (IRE)
Teofilo gelding who didn't show a great deal when ninth of 12 in novice at Salisbury (7f, good to soft) on debut 2 weeks ago. Looks one for handicaps later on.
Forged Ahead
Foaled February 19. Too Darn Hot gelding. Dam winner up to 7f (including at 2 yrs) out of Lowther Stakes winner Besharah. Yard's record this season with 2-y-o debutants 20-71 at time of writing.
Grove Street
Fairly useful form when runner-up at Sandown and Chepstow (both 7f, good) in recent months and matched that form upped in grade when fifth of 9 in conditions stakes at Newbury (1m, good to firm) last month. That sets the standard returned to maiden company.
Heno
Starspangledbanner colt who did well considering he was among the runners more obviously in need of the experience when third of 10 in maiden at Leicester (7f, good to firm) on debut last month. Should improve with that under his belt.
King Ida
Foaled January 28. 380,000 gns yearling, Sea The Stars colt. Yard's record this season with 2-y-o debutants 6-32 at time of writing. Noteworthy newcomer.
Noble Archer
Foaled April 3. Stradivarius colt. Half-brother to several winners, including smart winner up to 18.6f Montaly and 6f winner Farleigh Mac. Dam winner up to 1m in Italy (including at 2 yrs). Yard's record this season with 2-y-o debutants 6-77 at time of writing.
Till Then (IRE)
Lucky Vega colt who offered something to work on when fourth of 10 in novice at Kempton (6f) on debut just over a fortnight ago. Significantly up in trip and entitled to do better.
Wadacre Gabriel
Unfancied in the betting and didn't show much when last of 7 in 7f novice at Newcastle on debut just under 6 weeks ago. Significantly more required from this Invincible Spirit colt.
