An open-looking sprint in which a chance is taken on HANNEY GIRL, who found her run of good form halted in first-time cheekpieces last time, but Tim Easterby's filly can quickly get back on track with her usual tongue tie reapplied. Houndhill did well to get as close as he did when third over C&D last month so he can give the selection most to think about, with Sergeant Mayer and Tees Aggregates another couple worth mentioning, too.

Timeform Comments

Hanney Girl
Dual 5f winner last summer. Yet to add to those successes in 2026 but had been shaping up well prior to her latest Musselburgh effort in cheekpieces. No surprise to see the usual tongue tie back on and she could be worth chancing to open her account for the campaign under a 5-lb apprentice.
Castan
Returned to his best when scoring at Southwell in April. Shaped well when third at Beverley in August but his last couple of outings suggest he may have gone off the boil. On a handy mark if he can bounce back returned to turf.
Emperor's Son (IRE)
Successful twice for Richard & Peter Fahey in first half of 2026 and steadily finding his feet for new stable, gambled on when posting a good second of 6 over C&D last month. Failed to shine from a wide draw at Pontefract since (easy to back) but a return to this venue could help.
Sergeant Mayer (IRE)
Capitalised on a reduced mark at Nottingham in August then followed up at Leicester, before completing the hat-trick over C&D last month. Shaped as if still at the top of his game when third under a penalty at Newcastle (5f) earlier in the month and should be in the mix again.
North West Gal
Landed a small-field Newcastle maiden (5f) on final start of 2025 but hasn't looked the easiest of rides since sent handicapping back on turf this season, coming in last of 5 at Ripon (5f) back in early-August. Others look more solid.
Moira Express (IRE)
Twice placed in 5f handicaps at Wolverhampton this time last year and without the hood, probably needed the run on first outing since leaving Roger Varian (11,000 gns) after 10 months off at Southwell (6f) recently. This should reveal more.
Tees Aggregates (IRE)
Capitalised on a falling mark when scoring at Catterick (5f) in June and having slipped below that mark, got back on track with hood reapplied when 1¾ lengths third of 6 to Sergeant Mayer over C&D (good to soft) recently. Well treated if able to build on that.
Dragon Spin
A dual 5f handicap winner at Nottingham and Thirsk this summer. Posted one of her better efforts having eased back down in grade when a never-nearer third of 5 over C&D on latest outing in September and she now finds herself operating from last winning mark.
Houndhill
Bounced right back to his best refitted with a visor when successful at Newcastle (5f) in July and did well to make the podium given how the race panned out for him when third of 13 over C&D (good to firm) last month. Should go close granted a smoother passage.
Wrestling Revenue (IRE)
Landed a gamble from 4 lb higher at Pontefract 12 months ago. More miss than hit this season but encouraging that he went with much more spark after 3 months off when fifth at Musselburgh (5f) just under 5 weeks ago. Well treated if building on that.
