GALWAY REEL was much improved when running out an impressive winner of a 3m handicap chase here on his yard debut 3 weeks ago and is sure to take a bit of stopping if transferring that sort of form back to hurdles from a 4 lb higher mark. Forest Spirit and Daaris head the opposition.

Timeform Comments

Galway Reel (IRE)
Proved a different proposition on first outing for a new yard after 11 weeks off (formerly with Ian Williams) when impressively landing 7-runner handicap chase (8/11) at this course (3m, good) 3 weeks ago. Much respected reverting to hurdling from a 4 lb higher mark.
Alan Bresil
Made more impact than previously (despite going with little fluency) when 2½-length second of 4 at Huntingdon (25f) in May. Undone by a poor round of jumping at Fontwell (3¼m) next time and again underperformed back from a 4-month break at Stratford 12 days ago. Cheekpieces refitted.
Cuillin Ridge
Improved to open his account in convincing style at Huntingdon (25f, soft) on final start for Henry Daly in early-March. Purchased for £12,500 by new connections and proved unsuited by the drop back to 2½m at Hexham 3 months on. Wears first-time tongue strap and cheekpieces back up in distance.
Daaris (IRE)
Fair stayer on Flat (hasn't fired this year). Matched the best of his hurdle form stepped up markedly in trip when third (placed behind Forest Spirit) at Worcester (23f) last month, staying on. Lost momentum at a crucial stage at Southwell on most recent outing and worth another chance.
Forest Spirit (IRE)
Smooth-travelling mare who was a narrow second to an Olly Murphy-trained favourite at Worcester (23f) last month, seeing out the longer trip. Ran at least as well when filling same spot from a 5 lb higher mark at Perth and fancied to go well again.
Glenmuick
Showed much more upped in trip (also in first-time cheekpieces) when second in 12-runner handicap at Ffos Las (3m) in April. Ran too badly to be true in a similar event there the following month and may bounce back.
Simiyann (IRE)
A fair stayer at best on Flat but just modest form this year and was even below that level on first outing since leaving Ian Williams (for just 2,400 gns) at Pontefract 12 days ago. No show on all 4 previous outings over hurdles but at least gets a crack at a handicap in this sphere now.
Moro Rock (IRE)
Finally off the mark at Stratford (3¼m) last summer. Mixed bag thereafter, though wasn't disgraced returning from a 10-month absence over C&D in June and needs considering from a 1 lb lower mark.
