Timeform View

LEXINGTON BLITZ is likely in much better heart than recent form figures might suggest and he's taken to follow up his success in this corresponding event 12 months ago. Baker Blue looks interesting back in a handicap from a handy draw and could be the main threat. Spartan Arrow also appeals off a much-reduced mark, in what looks a wide-open renewal.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Spartan Arrow has traded at 50% or less of Betfair SP twice on its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Baker Blue
Useful and reliable sprinter who produced a career best when making all in 10-runner handicap at Chester (5f, soft) last month. Ran as well as could be expected when beaten 2 lengths in an Ascot listed event subsequently. Well drawn and there could well be more to come back in a handicap.
Toca Madera (IRE)
Smooth-travelling type who ran several good races in top-end handicaps during the summer. Has regained the winning thread in recent starts, following up his Beverley conditions success in Class 3 handicap at York last time. Expected to remain competitive up in grade for his hat-trick bid.
Gold Star Hero (IRE)
Tough sort who landed an all-weather hat-trick during the spring. Resumed winning ways with a career-best performance in a solid-looking Ascot handicap (5f) last time. No reason he shouldn't go well again off 4 lb higher.
Lexington Blitz (IRE)
Landed a first handicap success in this corresponding event 12 months ago. Since developed into a very useful sprinter, backing up his smooth Goodwood win with a third in the Epsom Dash in June. Hasn't had the rub of the green more recently and now looks weighted to repeat last year's success.
Ziggy's Triton (IRE)
Successful 3 times in Class 4 company this year, latterly when winning decisively at Leicester earlier this month. Likely to find life tougher back up in grade and Toca Madera probably the stable's leading hope.
Novamay
Confirmed herself better than ever when doubling her season tally in Class 4 C&D handicap in August (second on her only other previous start here). Dropped 2 lb for her 3½-length defeat by Toca Madera at York latest and yard at least hinting at a return to form in recent days.
Spartan Arrow (IRE)
Runner-up in 2025 Dash before landing listed/Group 3 success later that season. Dropped a long way in the weights following an underwhelming 2026, however, he was better than the result (and notably well backed) when beaten 4 lengths on all-weather last time. Interesting off 2 lb lower here.
Schrodinger's Cat
Bolted up at Redcar (5f) before running an upwardly mobile filly close at York in June. Posted a couple of lesser efforts last month prior to a forgivable run behind Toca Madera last time. Handicapper has given him a sound chance if back on song, though stall 11 probably doesn't help his cause.
Sir Yoshi (IRE)
Sole win came in Tipperary maiden in 2024. Best effort for present yard when close third to Baker Blue at Pontefract in July. Step back in right direction when 2 lengths third in first-time blinkers at Hamilton latest. Return to patient tactics could see him hit the frame in a strongly-run race.
Miraculous (IRE)
Doubled his tally for present yard when well backed to notch a second 6f Chester success last month. Failed to repeat that effort returned to a straighter track at Haydock 7 days on. Drawn wider than ideal this time and looks to have something to find back over the minimum trip.
Accrual
Capitalised on a falling mark at Thirsk in August (second and third won next time). Only 1 lb higher when bagging another Class 4 event at Ripon last month before shaping better than the result in 3-length defeat at Redcar latest. May prove vulnerable up in grade, though.
Vintage Clarets
Winner of this corresponding event in 2023 and 2024. Never looked like making it 3 on the bounce when fifth in last year's renewal. Hasn't looked in much form of late, either, even on his preferred soft/heavy ground. Now 3 lb out of the handicap having fallen considerably in the weights.
