GENTLE WARRIOR has been running in much better company of late and while not the most straightforward, he could be worth a chance dropped into this sort of grade. There are no such attitude concerns for Captain Cairney, who has solid claims to add to his tally, with Wasthatok still on a potentially handy mark for his Flat return.

Quirky sort who notched a quick-fire double in September last year. In another change of headgear when 10¼ lengths fourth at Haydock (soft) 3 weeks ago. Return to less-testing conditions may benefit one who isn't the heartiest under pressure. Warrants a second look on a rare start in a 0-70.
Promethean (FR)
Well below his fairly useful best in a trio of all-weather starts for present yard. Has at least found some form in 2m handicap hurdles around Uttoxeter in recent months, the tongue strap he's been wearing in that sphere retained for this return to the Flat.
Arrange (IRE)
C&D winner whose last success came at Haydock (2m) over 2 years ago. Arrives in a good run of form, though, finding one too good for the third time in 4 starts when chasing home a course specialist at Chester (1½m) last time.
Marbuzet
Fair stayer on his day. Heavy-ground success at Beverley (2m) in August a standout effort of an underwhelming season to date. Only 1 lb higher if he can put his best foot forward.
Captain Cairney
Forward-going type with a good attitude. Progressed again when only narrowly denied a hat-trick at Ffos Las (1¾m, soft) last month (third has won since). Easy to forgive subsequent effort at Southwell and solid claims to resume winning ways under a talented apprentice.
Wasthatok
Fair winning hurdler who still looks on a handy mark in this sphere. Belatedly opened his account on the Flat when scoring comfortably at Wolverhampton in March. Undone by a very slow start when 4¾-length fourth over 2m here in May. Interesting if ready to roll following 6 months away.
Dragonflame (FR)
Ended 2025 under a cloud for Brian Meehan and has shown nothing for a couple of different yards this season. Step up in trip looks a shot in the dark.
Bollin Neil
Veteran who's won 4 times over C&D, including 2020 and 2025 renewals of this race. Turned in another lazy display when beaten 5½ lengths at Musselburgh (1¾m, good) latest, however, he isn't taken lightly given his record here.
Stitching Wheel (IRE)
Winner over this trip at Redcar in June. Remained in good nick before failing to fire on all-weather at Southwell last time. Return to turf/addition of first-time cheekpieces offers some hope of a bounce back.
Gemical (IRE)
Low-mileage filly. Hit the frame in 3-y-o handicaps at Thirsk/Catterick in May. Arrives on the back of her worst 2 runs to date, latterly on all-weather at Newcastle in late-August.
