Timeform View

SHAW PARK has responded well to headgear of late and the return to his ideal distance should see him to best effect. The well bred and unexposed Encore looks the obvious threat on handicap bow, while this shorter trip could suit Always Blue given how she shaped last time.

Timeform Comments

Encore (FR)
Built on earlier promise (trained on debut by Ed Walker) when readily landing the odds in 8-runner novice at Kempton (6f) 33 days ago. Well bred and goes into handicaps with more to offer stepping up in trip. Likely player.
Invincible Ruby (IRE)
Twice a winner at Carlisle (6f, good) this summer. In-and-out form since but stamina stretched last time. Makes a rare start on all-weather (well held on both previous attempts).
Native Honey (IRE)
Has a rather all-or-nothing profile and all 3 career victories have come over 7f at Ayr, taking advantage of the drop in grade there in July. Now 2 lb below that winning mark and he's back in a class 5 for the first time since. Pulled too hard on only previous attempt on all-weather last summer.
Always Blue
Maiden but has been shaping well in handicaps, headed only in the last 100 yards under an aggressive ride at Pontefract (1m) 12 days ago. Well worth a go at this shorter distance.
Shaw Park (IRE)
Responded well to this headgear when placed at Wolverhampton (6f) and here (1m) in recent weeks, and looks ready to strike back at his optimum distance (all 5 career victories at 7f).
Show Me Gold
Made a winning handicap debut at Kempton in June and resumed progress when only just denied at Newmarket in August. Just respectable efforts both starts since.
King Sharja
Completed a hat-trick here (1m) in September but found run of good form coming to a halt at Newcastle 2 weeks ago, perhaps finding a busy recent spell catching up with him.
Baba Reza
Veteran who enhanced good record fresh when runner-up (following another breathing operation) at Carlisle on return in June. Made the frame next 3 starts but without building on his reappearance.
Double Eagle (IRE)
Showed some ability in 4 starts for George Boughey last year but tailed off both starts for this yard in recent months. Has since had a breathing operation.
