CAPABILITY BROWN has been improving in leaps and bounds, looking a smart prospect when winning a Curragh maiden at the end of last month, and he can take this step up in grade in his stride. Stablemate Bengal Tiger also arrives on the back of a clear-cut maiden success and could be the main danger, ahead of Trean.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Trean traded at a high of 2.50 and Betfair SP of 3.85 when winning last time, a race in which it raced towards the rear.

Timeform Comments

Bengal Tiger (IRE)
Continued his race-by-race progression when easily landing the odds in 7-runner maiden at Naas (6f) last week, having the race wrapped up by halfway. Leading yard has won 4 of the last 5 renewals of this race and he commands respect.
Capability Brown (IRE)
Half-brother to 2000 Guineas winner Saxon Warrior who has taken a big step forward with each start so far, justifying support when making most in 9-runner maiden at the Curragh (9f) 20 days ago. Looks ready for this higher grade.
King Of Cloughan (IRE)
Runner-up in a C&D maiden on second start before winning the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot. Hasn't quite kicked on since, though was badly hampered halfway when sixth of 18 in race won by Trean at the Curragh last time.
Nouveau Grey (FR)
Bred for longer trips, though attracted support and made a winning start in 11-runner maiden at Naas a month ago, becoming his trainer's first ever 2-y-o to win on debut. Straight up in grade but he's open to improvement.
Switching Sides (IRE)
Confirmed debut promise when winning a Fairyhouse maiden (6f) in June. Found things tougher when fifth of 7 in the Railway Stakes at the Curragh next time, before failing to give his running in sales race there last month. Cheekpieces now reached for.
Trean (IRE)
Impressive maiden winner at the Galway Festival and ran at least as well when third in the Acomb at York. Made the frame at the highest level in the National Stakes at the Curragh, before landing a valuable prize there 3 weeks ago. Not taken lightly.
Fighting Tears (IRE)
Overcame inexperience when making a successful debut in 6f maiden at the Curragh in August. Has run to a similar level when finishing mid-field in 2 listed races since, sixth of 10 at Dundalk (7f) 15 days ago. Has work to do upped in grade.
