Timeform View

The market should reveal plenty in this fascinating maiden but the vote goes to Paddy Twomey's unraced Justify colt DRIVE ON THERE who appeals on pedigree and holds an entry in next spring's Irish 2000 Guineas. Aidan O'Brien saddles three and his Wootton Bassett debutant Accumulation also commands plenty of respect. Critical Reason shaped well on his recent Curragh debut and could emerge as the pick of those with experience ahead of Naas debut third First Watch.

Timeform Comments

Accumulation (IRE)
Foaled February 12. Wootton Bassett colt. One to take seriously on debut and appears to be stable's first string.
Ciarrai Oir
Foaled March 27. Sergei Prokofiev gelding. Dam 1¼m-1½m winner. Others are preferred on this occasion.
Cosmonaut
Foaled April 23. 36,000 gns yearling, Space Blues gelding. Half-brother to useful winner up to 7.6f Blue Prince. Dam 6f winner. The market can guide for this newcomer.
Critical Reason (IRE)
Sent off 16/1 but shaped well from a poor draw when ninth of 18 in minor event at the Curragh (7f, good to soft) on debut 3 weeks ago, keeping on under hand riding after being forced to switch 2f out. This Lope De Vega colt is open to a fair bit of progress.
Drive On There (USA)
€130,000 yearling. Brother to 1¼m winner The Black Tiger and 7f winner Just Before. Also a half-brother to several winners, including smart 1¼m winner Ancient Rome. This Justify colt appeals on paper and holds an Irish 2000 Guineas entry. Interesting.
First Watch (IRE)
Kodiac colt made a promising start with third of 11 in maiden at Naas (7f, good to soft, 9/2) 30 days ago. Capable of better.
Imposing (IRE)
Looked in need of the initial experience when a patiently-ridden ninth of 14 in maiden at Punchestown (1m, good, 12/1) 32 days ago. This Wootton Bassett colt seems sure to do better.
Maathoor (IRE)
Foaled February 25. Frankel colt. Half-brother to smart winner up to 6f Umm Kulthum and US 1m winner Uncatalyzed. Dam lightly raced. Wears tongue strap. Bred to be above average and a considered newcomer here.
Sinanli (IRE)
Foaled March 18. Night of Thunder colt. Half-brother to several winners, including smart 6f/7f winner Sonaiyla and useful 2-y-o 5f winner Silmaniya. Dam 2-y-o 7f winner. Another newcomer that commands respect, especially if the market speaks in his favour.
Smart Aleck (IRE)
Foaled February 18. Kodiac gelding. Half-brother to a winner abroad by Inns of Court. Dam, 2-y-o 5.5f/6f winner, is a half-sister to useful winner up to 8.5f Grizzel.
Vale Dos Pinheiros (IRE)
Foaled April 19. €35,000 yearling, Elzaam gelding. Brother to 1m winner Secret Vision, and half-brother to 9.4f winner Come September and Italian 8.4f winner Bridge Secret Lir.
Walnut Cove (USA)
$200,000 foal, $625,000 yearling. Dam, 2-y-o 6f winner, is a sister to smart winner up to 1¼m Antilles out of smart 11.4f/1½m winner Wonder of Wonders. This son of Wootton Bassett hails from top yard and is bred to be useful. Must enter calculations.
