Timeform View

MOUNT MERU shaped well amidst greenness when runner-up on his Gowran debut and is taken to go one better now, perhaps at the main expense of the Aidan O'Brien pair Kingdom of Camelot and Aladdin's Cave. Louis de Foix and the other Aidan O'Brien runner, Pirate of Penzance, are newcomers to monitor closely in the betting.

Timeform Comments

Ah Sure Look (IRE)
More one for handicaps based on his efforts in recent weeks.
Aladdin's Cave (IRE)
7/1, third of 5 in maiden at Galway (8.4f, soft) on debut 39 days ago. Open to progress for top yard.
Captaincormac (IRE)
Foaled March 27. Arizona gelding. Half-brother to 7f/1m winner Poke The Bear. Dam maiden (stayed 1¼m) out of useful 9f/1¼m winner Daymooma. Wears tongue strap on debut. Likely outsider.
Etawann (IRE)
Foaled April 15. Wootton Bassett half-brother to 10.7f winner Etawa. Dam, 1m winner, half-sister to smart winner up to 1½m Eziyra. Ben Coen is on connections' other newcomer but the betting is perhaps the best guide.
Kingdom Of Camelot (FR)
Eye-catching fourth on 1m Curragh debut. Perhaps caught out by testing ground when a well-held fourth over 9f there since. Remains open to improvement.
Louis De Foix
Foaled February 12. 115,000 gns New Bay colt. Dam 1¼m-1½m winner. A likely type for whom market confidence could prove significant.
Mashad (IRE)
Foaled April 10. Baaeed half-brother to 3 winners, including useful 9f-10.6f winner Masoun and useful 1m winner Mashia. The mount of Ben Coen from the Johnny Murtagh pair.
Midnight Ace
Foaled March 28. 68,000 gns Ghaiyyath gelding. Half-brother to 9.5f winner Zenga and winner up to 1m Surpass, both useful. Bred to have a future but perhaps best watched this time.
Mount Meru
Promising second of 12 in maiden at Gowran (1m, soft) on debut 28 days ago. Should be wiser with that experience behind him and leading claims.
Pirate Of Penzance (IRE)
Foaled February 5. Camelot colt. Half-brother to several winners, including very smart winner up to 8.5f Newspaperofrecord and smart 6f winner Classical Times. Makes obvious paper appeal.
Raqi
Tongue strap on, fifth of 11 in maiden (7/1) at Naas (7f, good to soft) on debut 30 days ago, not knocked about. Up in trip. Open to progress but Mount Meru has to be considered the stable first string.
Saxonian (IRE)
22/1, ninth of 12 in maiden at Gowran (1m, soft) on debut 28 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. More one for the longer term on that evidence.
Silent Kingdom (IRE)
28/1, seventh of 9 in maiden at the Curragh (9f, heavy) on debut 20 days ago. Blinkered first time. May do better.
Special Reserve
Foaled May 8. 40,000 gns Pinatubo colt. Half-brother to several winners, including smart French winner up to 6.5f Dibajj and useful winner up to 10.5f Black Sea. Makes some paper appeal but starts out in what looks a warm race.
The Pintline (IRE)
Foaled April 11. Arizona colt. Half-brother to Norwegian 7f winner Lala Lou. Dam maiden (stayed 1m). Probably best to look elsewhere.
