Timeform View

Dermot Weld might hold the key here, with his three-time runner-up SUNATIA fancied to finally go one place better. Well-bred stablemate Rhapsodic is of serious interest on her belated debut, whilst King of Sparta would be of interest if back to the form of his second here late last season.

Timeform Comments

Shamrock Flame
Very promising second at C&D on his second start last year but proved much too free when sixteenth of 23 in maiden at the Curragh (1½m, heavy). Makes debut for new yard (formerly trained by Sean Davis) after 11 months off.
Checkered
4,000 gns 3-y-o, Kingman gelding. Dam, 1½m winner, sister to smart winner up to 1½m Pinhole. Yard wouldn't be associated with debut winners.
Cool Steel (IRE)
€8,000 yearling, Time Test gelding. Half-brother to 1m winner Turn Up The Heat. Dam, 2-y-o 7f winner who stayed 1¾m, half-sister to useful 1½m/13f winner (stayed 16.5f) Botany Bay.
Ginnos Oasis (IRE)
Alkumait gelding offered nothing when twelfth of 13 in maiden at Naas (1m, soft, 66/1) on debut 8 days ago.
King Of Sparta (IRE)
Left debut form well behind when second of 13 in maiden at Listowel (7.1f, soft) last September, clear of the remainder. Disappointing when only fifth of 10 in maiden (13/2) at the Curragh (1¼m, heavy) when last seen in March, though. Blinkers replace cheekpieces.
Man Of Property
Sea The Stars gelding. Half-brother to 7f-8.6f winner Soames Forsyte and 2-y-o 7f winner Queen Fleur. Dam 1¼m-1½m winner.
Nthea Spirit (IRE)
Kool Kompany gelding went off 100/1 and came home last of 15 in maiden at Naas (1m, good) on debut. Off 116 days.
Shorten The Winter (IRE)
€5,500 yearling, resold €36,000 yearling, Coulsty colt. Half-brother to 7f/1m winner Callianassa. Dam, lightly raced (best effort at 5f), half-sister to smart 11f-17f winner Amade. Worth betting check on debut.
Vico Road (IRE)
Offered something to work on when fifth in 21-runner 1¼m Navan maiden on debut and showed similar form when fourth of 14 in 9f event at Punchestown next time. Below that level when eleventh of 18 in maiden at the Curragh (1¼m, good to soft) 22 days ago but place claims here on balance of form.
Will You Stop (IRE)
On the up when hitting the frame in a couple of 1¼m maidens in June but progress has plateaued of late, holding every chance when fourth of 9 in maiden at Killarney (1m, soft) 13 days ago. Possibly vulnerable to improvers again.
Winter Adventure (IRE)
100,000 gns foal, €75,000 yearling. No Nay Never gelding. Brother to three winners, including a French 10.4f scorer, and closely related to other winners from 1m to 1¼m. Bred to appreciate this type of test. Market should guide on debut.
Maybe Art (IRE)
Saddex filly. Dam unraced. Not really bred for the Flat and would be a surprise debut winner.
Misneach Sile (IRE)
Has been sent off at long odds and gone without any encouragement in maidens at Naas and Bellewstown.
Rhapsodic
Study of Man filly. Half-sister to French 2-y-o 1m winner Inspired Idea. Trainer’s newcomers command respect.
Sunatia (FR)
Runner-up on all 3 of her starts since debut, progressing again despite racing less than economically when second of 17 in maiden at the Curragh (9f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Still makes plenty of appeal here.
