Timeform View

An open-looking renewal but plenty of eyes will be on COME WHAT MAY, who couldn't have been much more impressive first time up at the Curragh just over 3 weeks ago and Aidan O'Brien's colt falls firmly into the 'could be anything' category. He can get the better of Snellen, who has been off since a below-par effort here in mid-July but is the type to bounce back. The lightly-raced Hazdann may emerge as best of the remainder.

Timeform Comments

Cowardofthecounty (IRE)
Established as a useful performer but unable to get competitive when 4 lengths fifth of 7 to Quddwah in Solonaway Stakes at this course (1m, good to firm) just over 5 weeks ago. Sights are lowered returned to this grade and worth considering upped to 1¼m.
Diego El Queso (IRE)
Returned in excellent form, winning over C&D in April and even better when sixth of 17 at Goodwood in late-July, suffering a poor run and finishing strongly. Possibly amiss at York (10.3f, good to soft) a couple of months ago but every chance he will bounce back reunited with Keane.
Hazdann (IRE)
Clearly had issues since winning at the Curragh in June 2024. However, confirmed he remains capable of useful form, making most of good opportunity after 12 weeks off when landing 5-runner minor event at Roscommon (10.3f) in late-August. Up in grade but he's surely got plenty more to offer.
Sunchart
Useful dual-purpose performer but needs to shrug off a couple of lesser efforts if he's to get involved back from 4 months off.
Come What May (IRE)
Nathaniel colt who made a highly promising start to his career when winning 18-runner maiden at the Curragh (1¼m, good to soft) just over 3 weeks ago, well on top at the finish despite briefly looking green earlier in the straight. Quickly upped in class and is open to significant improvement.
Mr Vettori (IRE)
Heavy-ground maiden winner at Gowran last autumn. Highly tried and better form in defeat this season, not disgraced the way the race developed when eleventh of 18 on handicap debut at Galway (1½m, soft) in late-July. Place claims at best on his first crack in listed company (has been gelded).
Nuit (IRE)
Useful filly who has been highly tried, hitting the frame in listed/Group 3 company this summer before coming good dropped to maiden company at Ballinrobe (13f, good) in July. Well beaten in this company at Dundalk (10.7f) just over 3 weeks ago so best to look elsewhere.
Snellen (IRE)
Useful and likeable mare. Posted a good fifth in Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot (1m) in June. Rare poor run when last of 6 in Meld Stakes at this course (9f, good) following month. Freshened up since, and no surprise to see her bounce back.
Alphecca (IRE)
Ended last season with back-to-back wins in maiden and valuable sales race at Naas. Has upped her game the last twice since cheekpieces went on, again very much enjoying the run of the race when 1½ lengths fourth of 8 to Shaihaan in listed race at Killarney (11f, soft) recently. More needed.
Moments Of Joy (USA)
Placed at listed/Group 3 level last year but failed to progress in early part of this season and has acted as a pacemaker more recently. Shaped as if still in good form in first-time cheekpieces when 3¼ lengths sixth of 14 in listed race at Naas (1½m, soft) last week. Looks yard second string.
Sanctijude (IRE)
Fairly useful filly who belatedly got off the mark in 1m maiden at Gowran in May and added another success in 14-runner handicap at Punchestown last month by ½ length from Neo Smart. Got going too late at Navan last time and will need a career best to be involved. Step up to 1¼m a positive.
