Timeform View

A huge field but SPIRIT LEAD ME capitalised on a much-reduced mark at Southwell 11 days ago and while he may not have shown form on turf for some time, Richard Hughes' charge is difficult to resist from this mark. Dalmally got up late on to gain a first handicap success at Brighton last time, so he's feared most now back in the groove, with Sub Thirteen and stable-switcher Sceptic rounding off the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

She's Ideal (IRE)
Landed a double when making a winning start for Ado McGuinness at Gowran (1m) in August but little show since, including on first start for this yard here (1¼m, good) 11 days ago. Back down in trip but looks an easy swerve.
Dalmally
Belatedly opened his account in handicaps in 9-runner event at Brighton (1m, good to firm) 8 weeks ago, despite not looking the most straightforward under pressure. Up 4 lb and doesn't appeal as a likely candidate to follow up.
Havana Halo
Low-mileage filly who posted her best effort of the season when second of 5 in 6f handicap at Windsor in April. First-time cheekpieces failed to spark her back to life at Brighton (7f, good) recently so percentage call has to be elsewhere despite a slipping mark.
Spirit Lead Me (IRE)
Back-to-back winner on the all-weather last autumn who capitalised on a much-reduced mark in 12-runner event at Southwell (1m) 11 days ago, staying on to lead final 100 yds. Races off his lower turf mark here and remains firmly of interest now he's back in the groove.
Sceptic (IRE)
Scored twice at Wolverhampton in 2025 and added to his tally after a series of good efforts at Kempton in May. Possibly undone by a rise in the weights all 4 starts since but returns for new connections just 1 lb above that winning mark. Market check advised.
Pitney (IRE)
Nineteen runs since last win in 2024 and shaped as if needing the run after 4 months off at Kempton recently. Usual visor reapplied.
Wildfell (IRE)
One-time fairly useful performer. Offered nothing in 2 outings last year for D. J. Jeffreys and similar story on both outings this season for new connections (had breathing operation prior to latest).
Sub Thirteen
Fifteen runs since his last win but carried on his run of in-frame efforts despite never really looking like justifying favouritism when fourth of 11 at Ffos Las (6f, heavy) just over 3 weeks ago. On a career-low mark but will probably find a few too good. First-time visor replaces cheekpieces.
Ocean Force (IRE)
Lightly-raced 5-y-o who has shown bits and pieces of promise. However, he ran no sort of race in first-time visor and tongue strap at Southwell (1m) recently and the headgear is swapped again (first-time blinkers).
Birkie Boy (IRE)
Has paid his way at Les Landes again this summer, winning twice but he's opposable in races on the mainland, as demonstrated at Brighton (1m, good) just under a fortnight ago. First-time cheekpieces replace the visor.
Georg Zhukov (IRE)
Off the mark over 1m at Dundalk in January. Went into his shell after for Eamonn O'Connell but built on his yard debut 6 days earlier when second of 5 at Ffos Las (1¼m, heavy) just over 3 weeks ago, sticking to his task but lacking the change of pace shown by the winner. Place claims.
Raqraaq (USA)
On a losing run and has just the one decent effort this year, though did have excuses when last seen at Lingfield 2 months ago (hampered start).
Mooretown Lad (IRE)
Quickly returned to form back at 1m when second at Chepstow in June. Shaped as if still in good form at Ffos Las 17 days later but has finished tailed off the last twice.
Blue Point Express (IRE)
Turned in best effort of the season when third of 11 at Chepstow in late-August (went it alone towards the far side) but rather predictably wasn't in the same form at Ffos Las (6f, heavy) since. Easy enough to look elsewhere.
