Timeform View

A useful handicap with OURSIN an appealing candidate. He hasn't stood much racing so far but looks an all-weather natural and on the back of a gelding operation, he may well up his game. Ernst Blofeld, Circus of Rome and Wardlaw are solid rivals.

Timeform Comments

Ernst Blofeld (IRE)
Quirky sort who recorded a second career win at Kempton in late-May. Remained in form in top-end handicaps since, third of 8 over this trip despite being hampered at Newmarket 17 days ago. May well have more to offer on all-weather and this a slight drop in class.
Circus Of Rome
Made good progress in 2025, winning 3 times. Fairly low-key 2026 having been set some stiff assignments but he's pretty fresh for this time of year and eased in grade, he found only one too good at Pontefract 4 weeks ago. Previous C&D winner needs considering.
Oursin
Lightly-raced 4-y-o who easily went 2-3 in 4-runner 1m novice here a year ago. Sound-enough return to action in a Newbury handicap in May and while off again since, he may have been kept back for an all-weather campaign. Gelded and could be more to come.
Teumessias Fox (IRE)
Hold-up performer who has looked smart at his best but he does need things to drop right, which didn't happen given the pace held up at York in September. Back up in distance.
Dark Moon Rising (IRE)
Readily ended a long losing sequence in 1¼m handicap at York in July. Subsequently paid the price for big move into contention when fine sixth at the Ebor meeting a month later but couple of lesser efforts have followed. Back up in distance and given a chance by the assessor.
Tiernan (IRE)
Finally off the mark at Hamilton in August and best efforts since have come at Kempton, behind a pair of 3-y-os 3 weeks ago. Can remain very competitive.
Folk Pageant
Most progressive through the spring, bagging a fourth success in 1¼m Epsom handicap on Derby day. Form has flattened out in face of some stiff tasks thereafter.
High Point (IRE)
Successful at Yarmouth (11.5f) in June on final outing for Ross Burdon. Hasn't beaten many rivals in a handful of starts for this yard, though. 2 lb out of the weights.
Wardlaw (USA)
Quirky sort who still looked a work in progress when gaining first win at Beverley (1½m) in August. Matched that in finishing second all 3 starts since, albeit expensive to follow. Can get involved again.
