NEWSREADER has gained all 3 wins on all-weather and has shaped well on 2 of 3 starts for Tony Carroll. He looks the answer, for all Get Up Everybody and Rousham have something to recommend them.

Timeform Comments

Bobby Joe Leg
Veteran who has scored 10 times over this C&D over the years, including on 3 occasions in 2025. Proved more miss than hit at this venue during first half of 2026 and he's entitled to need the outing, for all this is a drop in class. Blinkers on.
Jesmond Dawn (IRE)
Added to a good Ripon record when winning a 1m handicap there in early-July. Hasn't built on that in 4 starts since, though is now back on that successful mark.
Yaajooz (IRE)
Fifteen runs since recording sole win in 2024 but took a step back in the right direction when third of 8 over C&D last month. Not seen to best effect making his challenge widest of all at Wolverhampton next time but harder to find an excuse at Catterick.
Newsreader (IRE)
On a long losing run but hasn't been with Tony Carroll long and was noted finishing with running left having been hampered at Southwell 3 weeks ago. Now looks of serious interest with Marquand taking over.
Educating Rita
Without a win since July 2024 and having shaped quite well on second start for Phil Kirby when placed in a big-field handicap at York in July, she's not been in the same form since. This is a drop in class though on second all-weather start.
Sole Spirit
Won 3 from 4 starts last year, including at this venue. Restricted to just 2 starts this season but shapes as though worth another try at 7f.
Tactical Blitz
Off the mark over 6f here in March but hasn't fired in 3 starts since leaving Archie Watson. Hopes pinned on return to this venue in a change of headgear.
Milford Grange
Runner-up 3 times in a row earlier in the season. Standards have slipped since but this trip is more suitable than 6f last time. All-weather debut.
Dolo's Star (IRE)
Progressed with each of her 3 all-weather starts for Grant Tuer, notably second of 8 in 5f novice in April. However, offered little in a trio of outings for new yard.
Get Up Everybody (IRE)
Had been shaping up well prior to breaking his duck over 6f here in August, weaving through to lead close home. Quickly back at that level when second here 18 days ago, conceding first run. Another try at 7f worth exploring on that evidence.
Blufferonthebus (IRE)
Successful over C&D around this time last year and return to 7f in her favour when second at Ayr last month. Tardy starts are becoming a habit with her and she could never land a blow over 1m 12 days ago.
Rousham
Redcar winner in May. Doesn't look an easy ride but ridden with more restraint when third over C&D 3 weeks ago. Has the ability to win from this mark but remains to be seen what effect the addition of cheekpieces has.
Maximum Velocity (IRE)
Made all to open his account in a 7f Redcar handicap in May. Much sharper for the fitting of first-time cheekpieces when career-best second (clear of rest) at Leicester (6f) in July but back into his shell since. Returns to 7f.
Gressington (IRE)
C&D winner in December but form has been mixed during the current campaign. Way he shaped over 1m here 3 weeks ago suggests return to 7f will suit.
