BRAZEN IDOL backed up his previous effort when only narrowly denied here 8 days ago and he could be ready to take advantage of his reduced mark. Heading the list of dangers is Opal Storm, who arrives on the back of her fourth win of the campaign, with Ashen also in the mix.

Timeform Comments

All Good
Showed improved form when making a winning return in novice at Ripon (6f) in August. Backed that up when second of 5 in handicap at Redcar (5f) last month and she could still have more to offer after only the 4 career starts so far.
Valor Spirit (IRE)
Remains a maiden but took a step back in the right direction on fourth start for current yard (trained by Richard Fahey at 2 yrs) when fourth of 9 in handicap at Catterick 6 weeks ago, despite meeting trouble in running. Task is now to build on latest effort.
Ventura Express
Losing run is mounting up but has made the frame 4 times this year, including a close third of 6 over this C&D in March. Arrives on the back of 2 below-par efforts, fifth of 6 at Redcar last month, though he could fare better back at this venue.
Herakles (IRE)
Has been shaping up well prior to getting back to winning ways at Nottingham in May. Wasn't seen to best effect when fourth of 8 at Ripon later the same month, short of room in the final 1f, but has been off nearly 5 months since.
Ashen (IRE)
Not long with current stable when opening account at Ayr (7f) in May. Has continued in decent heart since, making it 3 placed efforts in a row when third of 10 at the same C&D 12 days ago. Runner-up only previous start at 5f and he enters calculations.
Beaumadier (IRE)
Produced a career best when making all at Wolverhampton in February. Placed twice on turf since but was well held at Catterick in August, dropped away quickly having faced competition for the lead.
Opal Storm
Has proved better than ever with 4 victories this year, having excuses on penultimate start before scoring comfortably at Southwell 10 days ago. Has been raised 6 lb but she's respected.
Justmyluck
Gained a first success over this C&D in January. Hasn't matched that form since, though did fare better than of late when 2¾ lengths seventh of 20 to Opal Storm at Ayr last month.
Brazen Idol
Has returned to form with 2 in-frame efforts over 6f here this month, headed only near the line when second of 12 on latest outing. Remains 11 lb lower than for his last winning mark and can make another bold bid
Simba's Pride
Won 6f handicaps at Hamilton and Ripon in May. Raced too freely on a couple of occasions since, before returning to form in first-time hood when third of 12 at Pontefract (5f) 15 days ago, despite still being keen. Makes all-weather debut.
Staniel Cay (IRE)
Much improved on second handicap start when winning 17-runner contest at Nottingham (5f) in April, leaving Kevin Philippart De Foy after his next outing. Promise on first 2 runs for current yard, but below form when sixth of 13 at Southwell (6f) in September.
Golden Havana (IRE)
Ended 2025 with success over this C&D in December. Has made the frame 6 times this year, at this course on 3 occasions, but was never a real threat when sixth of 9 here 19 days ago.
Lucius Aurelius
Finally off the mark at Catterick in April. Largely struggled during the summer but has returned to form last 2 starts, going close when third of 14 at Musselburgh 8 days ago.
