Timeform View

A competitive handicap in which preference goes to recent C&D winner STAR OF MALI, whose smooth-travelling style seemed to lend itself very well to the track when scoring here earlier in the month. Powder Monkey, Mudamer and the returning Champion Again Ole also hold claims.

Timeform Comments

Paris Babe (FR)
Useful ex-French winner but has yet to get seriously competitive in 5 outings for her new yard, brushed aside after having the run of race at Kempton last time.
Dublin Bay (IRE)
Improved model on all-weather/refitted with cheekpieces this year, dominant when adding to his tally over C&D in May. Shaped as if still in form on his next 2 outings after a 3-month break and wasn't ideally drawn when last of 11 at C&D at fornight ago. A better showing here would be no surprise.
Mudamer (IRE)
Made all for back-to-back wins at Catterick last autumn. Returned with 2 good placed efforts this spring and returned to form from a reduced mark when winning a 9-runner handicap at Beverley (7.3f, good to firm, 7/1) 27 days ago, kept up to work. 4 lb rise looks manageable.
Champion Again Ole (IRE)
Signed off 2025 with an improved win at Kempton and followed up after a 6-month break over this C&D in March, scoring rather cosily. Up another 4 lb but it's unlikely his ceiling has been reached and he has to merit respect despite 7-month break.
Harlequin Angel (IRE)
After 7 months off, got back on the up when making all at Yarmouth in April. Hasn't managed to kick on in 3 subsequent outings, though, and now makes tapeta debut.
Lorna B (IRE)
Progressive as a 3-y-o, winning 3 times at 6f and ending the season in good form. Shaped as if needing the outing but still ran respectably when fourth of 12 in handicap at Doncaster (6f, good) on return in May and has been absent since.
Star Of Commala (IRE)
Starman filly who left debut form well behind when springing a 125/1 surprise over C&D in July. Had a bit up her sleeve when following up in a 9-runner novice at Newcastle (7f) but struggled to land a blow from a stiff-looking opening mark at Ascot 45 days ago.
Star Of Mali (IRE)
Generally progressive over the last calendar year and found the tight nature of Wolverhampton suiting his enthusiastic style when winning a 9-runner handicap over C&D 17 days ago. A 4 lb rise may not be enough to stop him from following up despite wide draw.
Powder Monkey (IRE)
Showed improved form to get off the mark in 11-runner handicap at Lingfield (7f, all-weather) in August and followed up under a good ride at C&D last month. Ran at least as well after a 4 lb rise when third of 11 in handicap at this C&D (2/1) 14 days ago. Can make presence felt.
Documenting
Now firmly into the veteran stage but gained a 13th career success in 12-runner handicap at Doncaster (7f, firm) in August. Unable to get involved from a poor draw at Ascot last time and he's not ruled out with the form of that previous success having worked out well.
Reciprocated
Didn't kick on from a highly promising start as a 2-y-o and similar story following a good reappearance third at Pontefract in 2 subsequent starts for Karl Burke. Produced his best effort since switching yards when sixth of 11 in handicap (40/1) over C&D 14 days ago but more is needed again.
Chantelle
Started 2-2 in fillies novices at C&D in the winter and has proved pretty reliable since switching to handicap company, again shaping well despite a wide trip when fourth of 11 in handicap at this C&D (12/1) 14 days ago. Can give another good account.
