Timeform View

A fascinating bumper in which several leading yards are represented. The vote goes to BALLYDINE BOY, a point winner who made the frame in a Clonmel bumper that has worked out well and has since been recruited by the Olly Murphy yard. His stablemate Maxi Twist and Dan Skelton's Dressforsuccess are next on the shortlist on their Rules debut.

Timeform Comments

Ballydine Boy (IRE)
Dead-heated for first on the second of his 2 outings in points and showed ability when fourth of 8 in bumper (28/1) at Clonmel (2m, heavy) on Rules debut in March. That form has worked out well and he's much respected having since changed hands for £40,000 (left Elizabeth Anne Lalor).
Dressforsuccess (IRE)
£12,000 3-y-o, Shantaram gelding. Half-brother to 6f winner Jacky. Dam (h86), unreliable 2½m hurdle winner (stayed 2¾m). One to note on debut for yard that has already saddled 3 bumper winners this month.
French Fancy (FR)
€18,000 3-y-o, French Fifteen gelding. Half-brother to numerous winners, including useful hurdler Merlin Giant. Dam unraced half-sister to Derby third Astrology. Makes debut in a strong-looking race and others make more appeal.
Ginolo (IRE)
€38,000 3-y-o, It's Gino gelding. Dam, 7f-9f winner, sister to fairly useful chaser (17f-23f winner) Mallorca and fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 3¼m) Viroflay. Interesting newcomer for leading yard.
Goodbye Earl (IRE)
€58,000 3-y-o, €85,000 4-y-o, Poet's Word gelding. Brother to a winner, and half-brother to fairly useful hurdler Big Bad Bear, stays 23f, and fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser Wewillgowithplanb. Successful on the second of 2 starts in Irish points, so has to merit betting check on debut.
Maxi Twist (IRE)
€27,000 3-y-o, £90,000 4-y-o, Maxios gelding. Cost a fair amount after winning an Irish point and is of obvious interest on debut (stable also responsible for Ballydine Boy).
Tide Is Turning
Frontiersman gelding who showed plenty to work on when finishing third behind a pair of above-average prospects in a Kempton bumper (2m) on debut in March. Has to be respected after 7 months off.
