This could go the way of course specialist BEL AMIGO, who had some solid form in defeat last season and returns on a handy-looking mark. Sytadel, Winds of Winter and Caballo de Guerra also make plenty of appeal in a tricky handicap.

Timeform Comments

Trust House (IRE)
Fairly useful on Flat. Progressed to similar level when winning back-to-back 2m handicaps last spring. Ran at least as well in defeat despite being turned over at short odds on final start for Olly Murphy in June (since sold for £14,500). No easy task to improve one from that yard, though.
Magna Victor
Low-mileage 7-y-o. Improved to make it 2-2 in handicaps at Musselburgh last winter. Acquitted himself well when 13¼-length third in Class 3 handicap at Ayr prior to finding Swinton too much at end of last season. Back in calmer waters and yard has had a couple win following breaks in recent weeks.
Caballo De Guerra (IRE)
Grand type who should make a mark over fences. Ran his best race since winning on reappearance last year when ½-length second at Perth (2m) on return, travelling well/staying on behind a game class-dropper. Can give another good account off only 1 lb higher.
Bertie's Ballet
Doubled his hurdle/Haydock tally in 2m handicap there (2m) in January 2025. Never at his best in a sparse campaign last season. Feasibly treated off 2 lb below his winning mark, provided connections have him back on song.
Sytadel (FR)
Very lightly-raced 4-y-o. Fairly useful winner on Flat in France. Shaped encouragingly to place in couple of maidens (including behind fairly useful one) for Dan Skelton in recent weeks. Intriguing making a quick switch to handicaps, for all the BHA haven't taken any chances with his opening mark.
Bel Amigo (FR)
Fairly useful performance to complete a course hat-trick here in spring 2025. Runner-up twice in handicaps last winter (including here) and made a pleasing comeback from an end-of-season fall at Perth last month. Interesting returning to this track off a slipping mark (under stable's claimer).
Winds Of Winter (IRE)
Smooth-travelling mare who was narrowly denied a third Cartmel win in mid-July. Still in good heart when 9-lengths fourth following 11 weeks at Hexham earlier this month. Certainly respected back in Class 4 company for the first time in a while.
Balcomie Breeze (FR)
Fair sort who left previous hurdle form behind when landing a gamble at Catterick (2m) in January 2025. Finished that season in form over longer trip at Kelso (22.5f). Back down significantly in distance on first start for 18 months and market likely to offer plenty of clues.
