LA LOLITA looks capable of making a winning start for the in-form Sam England team. Jetovango is feared, especially if supported on third start for capable yard. Gonnino, U S Marshall and Rickety Gate also need considering in a competitive handicap.

Timeform Comments

Final Straw (IRE)
Improved for headgear/switch to handicaps when landing back-to-back 3m handicaps at Kempton/Plumpton in good style last November. Run of good form came to a halt on hat-trick bid at Wincanton the following month, and it's hardly a positive he was sold for only £10,000 out of Nicky Henderson's yard.
Shoeshine Boy (IRE)
Veteran course winner. Successful in back-to-back 3m handicaps at Ayr (heavy) in January. Finished 11½-length fifth in stronger race than this penultimate start last season before struggling back under less testing conditions at Perth. Drops into a 0-100 but may not find this enough of a test.
U S Marshall (IRE)
Irish point winner who got back on track for the fitting of cheekpieces at end of last season. Bumped into a gambled-on one when last seen at Huntingdon (21f) in April. Still relatively unexposed and looks one of the more likely winners.
Jetovango (IRE)
Cheekpieces added/showed much more than previously when third on chasing debut at Wexford in June. Hasn't been competitive in a couple of hurdle starts more recently, though still early days for a yard that knows the time of day. Needs a second look.
Chicago Storm
Found some form in both codes for Daisy Hitchins in the spring. Underwhelming couple of starts for present yard this summer. Returns over longest trip he's faced following 3 months away and hard to be confident he's in the form to capitalise on freefalling mark.
La Lolita (FR)
Off the mark in 4-runner novice at Ludlow (21f) this time last year. Didn't build on a promising second handicap start when beaten 14¼ lengths on final outing for Gary Hanmer latest. Since joined useful yard and interesting if first-time tongue strap is the catalyst for a stronger finishing effort.
Gonnino (IRE)
Maiden who ran right up to form when runner-up over C&D (good) in April. Looked ready for this step back up in trip when beaten 6¼ lengths on return at Perth (2m). Worth another go in cheekpieces, too, and is weighted to be firmly in the mix.
Half Track (IRE)
Veteran hit the frame 4 times in handicaps in 2024/5, including twice here. On a much-reduced mark having been badly out of sorts last season. Leap of faith required, even if the betting again speaks in his favour.
Lady Phoebe (IRE)
Shaped with some promise when hitting the frame in 2½m handicap hurdles at Newcastle in March. Ran up to her best when third on return in Flat handicap at Catterick last month. Isn't discounted off easing mark over hurdles.
Rickety Gate
Veteran who added to a creditable record fresh when 10½ lengths fourth over C&D in March. Didn't offer much thereafter, however, he's been given another break and has won twice/hit the frame 3 times from 7 starts here.
Coventry (IRE)
Runner-up sole previous start at this track. Capitalised on a falling mark to end a losing run of over 5 years at Perth on return, a breathing operation seemingly the catalyst. Overall record suggests he's probably worth taking on following a 3 lb nudge.
Am Still Here (IRE)
Maiden who finished runner-up 6 times over hurdles/fences in 2025. Disappointed on final start for Nicky Richards last autumn. Feasible to think he'll come on for his reappearance/stable debut (beaten 15 lengths) at Perth, though will need to brush up his jumping to make a serious impact.
Billable Grant (IRE)
Ended a long losing sequence off this mark at Perth (3m) in spring 2025. Off since a below-par effort over the same C&D in July of that year and his record fresh is distinctly ordinary.
