GOLDEN ACE has had valid excuses when falling short on reappearance the previous 2 seasons and her class may prevail this time. Burdett Road chased home Jeremy Scott's mare twice last season, and while better off at the weights this time, he hasn't been in top form on the Flat more recently. Wilful went from strength to strength last year and could have a say if picking up where he left off.

Dedicated Hero (IRE)
Ended last season on a high, making it 2-2 following a breathing operation when completing a handicap double in the Grade 2 Scottish Champion Hurdle. He was aided by a couple of likely dangers meeting trouble at a crucial stage, though, and faces no easy task up in class on hat-trick bid.
Rubaud (FR)
Smart front runner who edged out Burdett Road in a small-field listed race at Kempton this time last year. Subsequently landed a third successive Elite Hurdle prior to creditable efforts in graded company. Excellent record on reappearance, for all he has a bit more on at the weights this time.
Wilful (IRE)
Highly progressive last season. Won a strong Ascot handicap prior to a zestful display when landing the County at Cheltenham. Gave it even more of a go than the distance beaten might suggest when 13-length third in Grade 1 Punchestown since, and he doesn't have much to find at this level on return.
Burdett Road
Chased home Golden Ace twice in 2025, including in Champion Hurdle. Better off at the weights for his 1-length defeat by Rubaud on latest hurdle start at Kempton last October. Well below his smart best on the Flat in recent months, but could have a fitness edge on several of the main players.
Hamlet's Night (IRE)
Ran a blinder under ideal circumstances when runner-up to Rubaud in Grade 2 Elite last season. Better than ever when making a winning return on the Flat last month but didn't build on that when down the field in the Welsh Champion Hurdle. Burdett Road looks the pick of the stable's duo.
Inner Success (FR)
Encouraging third behind useful Fortune De Mer at Ascot last November. Won 2 of his 4 starts in France since and found further improvement when ½-length second in listed hurdle at Clairefontaine (2¼m, soft) in August. This demands more again, though likely to be more match fit than a few in here.
Mirabad (FR)
Down the field in the Greatwood on return/stable debut last November. Subsequently much improved over fences, landing a surprise win in Grade 1 novice chase at Aintree. Off since unseating at Sandown later in April (since had another breathing operation). Top yard may have bigger targets in mind.
Golden Ace
Smart mare who is a credit to connections. Had fortune on her side when landing the Champion Hurdle/Fighting Fifth in 2025. Better than ever in first-time cheekpieces when no match for Lossiemouth at Punchestown in April. Likely the one to beat if fit and well (amiss on reappearance last year).
