Timeform View

MO OF CAIRO has shaped as if ahead of his mark in defeat on his last couple of outings and Kevin Ryan's colt is fancied to make a successful journey from the North. The Quiet Gent has to be respected on the back of his Salisbury win, with the unexposed Space Party and Distant Rumble also on the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Yes I'm Mali
Scored at Ripon (6f) at the start of last month and quickly returned to form back at that more suitable trip when fourth of 12 at the same C&D 26 days ago. Yard form is a minor concern at present, though.
Sierra Sands (IRE)
Won 6f/7f handicaps on July course here this summer and has remained in good form when making the frame all 3 starts since, most recently when second of 9 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 33 days ago.
The Quiet Gent (IRE)
Off for 10 months before finishing runner-up on debut for this yard (formerly with Ralph Beckett) at Brighton in August before proving better than ever in first-time cheekpieces to win a 8-runner handicap at Salisbury (6f, soft, 15/2) 41 days ago, finding extra. Player.
Star Chorus (IRE)
Struggled on turf over the summer but landed a gamble returned to all-weather when winning a 10-runner handicap at Kempton (6f, 15/8) 17 days ago. Up 3 lb but suspicion is that might've been the time to catch him.
Sixtygeesbaby (IRE)
Won well at Carlisle from a tumbling mark in August. Disappointing on his next 2 starts but was back to form when third of 14 in handicap at Redcar (6f, good to firm, 15/2) 37 days ago. Still not the most predictable, though.
Shaman Champion (IRE)
Without a win since debut when trained by Richard Hughes. Best effort for Clive Cox this season when third in 7f handicap at Southwell in July. Not ideally placed either start since but others make more appeal on the back of another stable switch.
Physique (IRE)
Ended long losing run at Newmarket (7f) in June. Assessor has looked in control since, though paid the price late for helping to force a strong early pace when finishing down the field at Pontefract earlier in the month. Hood back on.
Mo Of Cairo
Shaped as if a second career win is nearing when runner-up (well backed) at Musselburgh (5f, good) late last month and looked as if still in top form having been granted little racing room when fourth of 13 in handicap at Redcar (5f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Shortlist material.
Golden Brown (IRE)
Has advanced his form in 3-y-o handicaps since getting off the mark in a Salisbury maiden (good to soft) in May but hard to find an excuse for his below-par effort there 3 weeks ago. Will need to bounce back now sporting cheekpieces.
Space Party (IRE)
Son of Space Blues who has been placed on all 4 outings, going down fighting when beaten just a nose in a 9-runner event at Kempton (6f) on handicap debut 17 days ago. Can go well again from unchanged mark.
Distant Rumble
Better than ever when running out a wide-margin winner of a 13-runner handicap at Windsor (6f, good, 5/1) last month. Shaped as if more than capable of scoring from this higher mark when third of 10 at Bath (5.7f, firm, 5/1) 23 days ago, nearest finish after a slow break. Not taken lightly.
Court Drive (IRE)
In the form of her life in recent weeks proving better than ever when completing the hat-trick in a 10-runner handicap at Bath (5.7f, good, 6/1) 14 days ago. Found things tougher from a 6 lb higher mark at Yarmouth on Tuesday, though. NON RUNNER.
Spring Bloom
Enhanced good July Course record with a pair of 6f wins in July. Remained in form with pair of in-frame efforts there since and is respected back on the Rowley Mile.
Robert Anstruther
Suited by the return to 6f when scoring readily at Nottingham (good to firm) in July before a close second on the July Course next time. Found the race developing on the opposite flank to where he was pitched at Goodwood last time and is probably worth treating as if still in form.
Kimbara
Yet to score but he shaped well when placed over 7f on turf in his first 2 handicaps. Hasn't looked the easiest of rides since, again racing freely despite application of cheekpieces when seventh of 13 in handicap at Yarmouth (6f, good) 10 days ago.
