Timeform View

SILLY MONGOOSE is weighted to resume winning ways under a good-value claimer. He gets the nod over Ripsnorter, who is feared if building on his Downpatrick win at the second attempt. There's plenty of pace on paper, which could bring Private Policy and Soldier Saint into the mix, too.

Timeform Comments

Ripsnorter (FR)
Borderline fairly useful in bumpers. Settled better when leaving previous hurdling efforts well behind to score at Downpatrick in August. Clearly wasn't 100% at Gowran subsequently and could be worth another chance to show what he can do off this sort of mark.
Market Ready (IRE)
Maiden who advanced his form when runner-up on handicap bow here (2m, soft) in April. Clear step back in the right direction when chasing home an odds-on favourite at Tramore in August. Definite claims if building on that following 10 weeks away.
Lauro's Legend (IRE)
Form went the wrong way over hurdles last season and similar story on the Flat this summer (shaped as if amiss on latest start at Galway in July). Questions to answer back hurdling.
Private Policy (IRE)
Proved a different proposition this season, making it 2 wins in 3 starts when successful at this course (23f) following a 4-month break latest. Still relatively early days in handicaps, too, and looks sure to go well again off 5 lb higher.
Beyond Forgiveness (IRE)
Free-going sort who showed ability in maidens. Sent off at 22/1 and merely passed beaten horses when down the field on handicap bow at Punchestown (2m, good to soft) 9 days ago. Needs a market check back up in trip in first-time hood, with Danny Gilligan taking over.
Nirisque (FR)
Second in fillies juvenile hurdle at Compiegne in April 2025 for N. George & A. Zetterholm. Best effort for current connections when runner-up in Tramore maiden in spring. Likely to be sharper for last run and should have more to offer now tackling a handicap in first-time tongue tie.
Silly Mongoose (IRE)
Off the mark in weak 2m maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan in June. Back on track reverted to front-running tactics more recently, only finding a stable-switcher too strong at Punchestown (2m, good to soft) 9 days ago. Weighted to resume winning ways, if settling back up in trip under good-value claimer.
Bobby Kirova
Travelled more sweetly in first-time cheekpieces when readily opening his account in 16-runner handicap hurdle at this course (2½m) last time. An 11 lb rise may prove harsh, though, considering that form looks nothing to write home about.
Blue Johnl (IRE)
Maiden pointer who is bred to stay well. Confirmed previous improvement when 13 lengths third in maiden at Listowel (2m) last time. Will benefit from step back up in trip, though handicapper hasn't taken any chances with his opening mark.
Mahler's Best (IRE)
Unable to build on the promise of her stable debut when going off too hard on handicap bow at Wexford (2½m, good) in late-August. Can be given another chance, though will need to sharpen up her jumping to make a serious impact.
Chemdawg (IRE)
Front runner who had the run of the race when doubling her tally at Kilbeggan last month. Paid the price for her early exertions (took keen hold) when pulled up at Listowel subsequently. Likely to face competition for the lead here, too.
Mother Ship (IRE)
Belatedly got off the mark in 16-runner handicap hurdle at Navan (19f, good to soft) last month. Wasn't in the same form when mid-field in Gowran handicap (2½m) since. Should at least be suited by likely strong pace.
Soldier Saint (IRE)
Quirky maiden who has been prominent in the market both starts for present yard. Badly hampered when well-held sixth of 17 at Punchestown (2½m) latest. Type who could benefit from addition of blinkers and presumably thought to be on a good mark.
