WASHINGTON HEIGHTS is a very solid operator at this level and arrives on the back of a creditable effort in Sweden, so gets the verdict over course specialist Sir Les Patterson, who was unlucky not to win a good minor event here earlier in the month. George Boughey's juvenile This Moment is a very interesting candidate pitched in against his elders.

Timeform Comments

Ain't Nobody (IRE)
Seemed to excel himself in first-time headgear when second in last season's Nunthorpe. Hasn't hit the same heights since, including well beaten in the Beverley Bullet 31 days ago. A bounce back is needed with cheekpieces reapplied.
Kerdos (IRE)
C&D handicap winner in July and made it 2 wins from his last 3 starts when landing an 8-runner minor event (11/1) at this C&D 21 days ago by ½ length from Sir Les Patterson. That race set up well for him but he's respected back up in grade.
Sir Les Patterson
Smart all-weather performer was unfortunate not to get the better of his stablemate Kerdos when ½-length behind that rival in an 8-runner minor event at this C&D 3 weeks ago, the gaps not appearing for him when needed. Leading player.
Valiant Force (USA)
Showed himself still capable of smart form when winning over 5f here in February and bounced back to form when second of 12 in handicap (17/2) at this course (7f) 7 days ago. This is much tougher, though.
Washington Heights
Smart sprinter who tends to run his race at this level, notching a third listed success at Carlisle in May (also won Group 3 earlier in his career). Back to something like his recent best when third of 8 in a listed race at Bro (6f, good) last month and he makes lots of appeal back down in trip.
Cardiff By The Sea (IRE)
Free-going sort who made a winning return in maiden at Cork (5f) in April. Produced an improved effort making a belated handicap debut when second of 20 at the Curragh (5f, good to soft, 18/1) 27 days ago but more will be required in this higher grade.
Eclairage (IRE)
Four-time C&D winner took a step back in a right direction when second in a C&D handicap in July. Went off much too hard when 4¾ lengths sixth of 8 to Kerdos in minor event at this C&D (10/3) 21 days ago and pick of her form would give her place claims with headgear reapplied.
Focaccia (IRE)
Been kept busy since making her debut at the beginning of the season, winning a Bellewstown maiden in July and excelling herself when third in listed race at Cork the following month. Limitations have been exposed both starts since, though.
Institute (IRE)
Very well bred filly who finally opened her account at the seventh attempt in 12-runner C&D maiden in August but since finished well beaten in listed race at the Curragh (6f, soft, 40/1) 19 days ago. Cheekpieces on first time.
Ipanema Queen (IRE)
Won 3 times (including over C&D) for Adrian Murray in 2025, including listed race. Highly tried by current yard before getting up late returned to handicap company in 11-runner event at Cork in July. Found out at Group 1 level since but should fare better here.
Likedbymike (IRE)
Made the most of a good opportunity when doubling her tally in a minor event at Naas in August and followed up in 8-runner listed race at Cork (5f, good to soft) later that month. Rare poor effort under a penalty at the Curragh earlier in the month and a career best will likely be needed here.
Rosie Frith (IRE)
Forward-going type who posted a career best when scoring at the Curragh in August. Below form next time but showed enough to suggest she's back in good heart when sixth of 20 there (5f) last month and was always on the back foot after anticipating the start in a C&D minor event 3 weeks ago.
This Moment (IRE)
Much improved in 5f nurseries, impressive again when completing the hat-trick at Chester last month. Ran respectably enough up in grade when ½ length fifth of 13 in the Cornwallis Stakes at Newmarket (5f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Very interesting against his elders with track likely to suit.
