Cases can be made for plenty, but last year's winner FINE INTERVIEW has largely held his form since making a winning reappearance over C&D in the spring and with his usual cheekpieces reapplied, Hamad Al Jehani's 5-y-o can record career victory number 7. City Captain has taken his form up a notch in recent weeks, so he heads up the dangers, with Advertised and Pilu another couple to consider, too.

Timeform Comments

Aramram (IRE)
Made a winning return C&D listed race in March but has proved difficult to place since, not at his best returned to listed company when seventh of 11 at Ascot (5f, good to firm) just under 3 weeks ago. Handicapper given him a squeak and the return to 6f also promises to suit.
Fine Interview (FR)
Successful in this last year and over C&D in March. Back in fine form after a break, fourth of 24 to Pellitory in Ayr Gold Cup (6f, heavy) last month when second best in his group. Below form in change of headgear at York (6f) recently but considered in reapplied cheekpieces.
Dark Thirty (IRE)
Better than ever this year, winning at York and Chester in early summer. Has twice run really well when placed at the Curragh since but latest couple of efforts have left a bit to be desired. Handicapper drops him another 2 lb and could well bounce back.
Goldmoyne (IRE)
Yet another fine advert for his yard, winning 6 times on all-weather between December and March. Has held his form well from higher marks on turf since and added to his tally in game fashion in 18-runner event at Ascot (6f, good to firm) 3 weeks ago. 4 lb higher here.
Fahrenheit Seven
Landed back-to-back 5f all-weather handicaps earlier in the year but there hasn't been much to be positive about since, most recently when tenth of 24 in handicap at Ayr (6f, heavy) just under 5 weeks ago. Mark in freefall but leap of faith required at present.
Station X
Has proved admirably consistent when racing over 6f this year, taking a big stride forward when gaining a fourth victory of the campaign in 23-runner Silver Cup at Ayr (6f, heavy) last month by nose from Goldmoyne. Task is to back that up faced with potentially less testing conditions.
Toyotomi (FR)
Listed winner when trained in France. Got off the mark for current yard at Goodwood (6f, soft) in June and posted his best effort with third of 23 in Ayr Silver Cup (6f, heavy) last month. Unable to repeat that under less testing conditions at York since, however. First-time visor goes on.
Lakers (IRE)
Successful twice in handicaps in 2025 and has mainly continued in good heart this year, though needs to shrug off a lesser effort here (6.5f, good to firm) last month to feature.
Golden Mind (IRE)
Ended 2025 with success over C&D in November. Showed promise initially this spring (excellent fourth in Victoria Cup at Ascot) but has gone off the boil since. Dangerously well handicapped if a return to this venue sparks a revival.
Brighton Boy (IRE)
Responded well to a change of tactics to double his tally for the season at Pontefract (6f) earlier in the month and had a bit up his sleeve when following up down in grade in 10-runner event at Catterick (7f, good) 6 days ago, leading final 50 yds. More needed in this under a penalty.
Kodi Lion (IRE)
Back to winning ways in comfortable style at Haydock (6f) in September and has shaped as if still in good form on both subsequent starts, caught further back than ideal when fifth of 17 at Leicester (7f, good) 10 days ago.
Advertised (IRE)
Dual 6f/7f winner at Newcastle last year. A little in and out this year but bounced back to his best when second of 21 at York (6f, good to soft) just under a fortnight ago, doing well under the circumstances given he was first home in his group. Respected with Murphy booked.
Pilu (IRE)
Back to winning ways at Newmarket in August and upped his game further when following up in 9-runner event at Yarmouth (6f, good) the following month. Below form at Ascot in his hat-trick bid but did run a bit better than the distance beaten suggested (not ideally drawn and met trouble).
Rousing Encore (IRE)
Scored twice in 2025 campaign and plenty of good efforts to his name this time around, remaining at the top of his game when second of 11 at Haydock (6f, soft) last month, though he rather threw it away having travelled strongly (traded 1.01). 2 lb higher here but folly to discount.
City Captain
Won 4 times last season and further progress this year, justifying good support when running out a game winner of 9-runner event at Hamilton (5f, soft) last month. Remained in top form when third of 14 at Haydock (5f, heavy) last week and can't be ruled out back at 6f in his current mood.
Musical Touch (IRE)
Scored at Southwell in April and also bagged 21-runner event at York (6f) in June. Not disgraced off a career-high mark with third of 9 at Thirsk early last month and having got stuck in the mud in Ayr Silver Cup, got back on track in reapplied cheekpieces at Pontefract since.
