BIG HARRY looks potentially useful so he remains with plenty of scope off a mark of 82. Most of these should handle the conditions, including main dangers Topwarrior and Alpha Magic.

Timeform Comments

Topwarrior
Goes well in the mud, as shown when beating a big-field at Newbury on final 3-y-o outing. Not beaten far returned to testing conditions last 2 starts and should be in the mix again.
Bone Marra (IRE)
All 3 wins on all-weather, the latest at Southwell in June. Also showed he's just as effective on turf when third in the Ayr Bronze Cup last month. Sharp 6f seemed against him next time and headgear now applied.
Art Lover (IRE)
Winless in handicaps this season but has been shaping well, including when a close fifth in this headgear at Kempton 9 days ago, finished with running left having been badly hampered. Didn't convince in the mud 2 starts back, however.
Novello Lad
Has gone off the boil since completing a C&D double in June and has been kept away from slow ground for most of his career.
Big Harry
Got better with each run at 2 yrs and ran out an easy winner of a heavy-ground C&D novice on final start from Thunder Call (now rated 109). Pulled too hard on belated return but firmly back on track when scoring at Ayr after another 3 months off. Remains a useful prospect so can defy a 4 lb rise.
Rikki Tiki Tavi (IRE)
Struggled on first 2 outings this season but back to form with a bang when narrow winner at Carlisle (6f, good to firm) 8 weeks ago, making all. 3 lb higher in better race now, though, and conditions are an unknown.
First Time (IRE)
Won a 6f Newmarket maiden last summer for Harry Charlton. Largely proved consistent in handicaps for current yard this season, running his best race yet when second of 20 at York (7f, soft) 2 weeks ago. Well worth another go at sprinting given how he shaped there.
Woven
Veteran who scored at Ayr on heavy this time last year but been rather inconsistent this season, his latest effort there his worst yet. Others more persuasive.
Star Material (IRE)
Temperamental sort who has refused to race. Best to look elsewhere.
Aberama Gold
Veteran who was a narrow winner at Catterick off 2 lb higher in April and runner-up 3 of his last 4 starts. Return to testing ground no problem (won a Stewards' Cup in the mud in his prime).
Alpha Magic
Had fallen a long way in the weights after losing his form but is ending the season on a high, making amends for his unlucky defeat at Pontefract when going one better at Ayr (heavy). Can go well again up 3 lb.
Charlie Mason
Goes well under these conditions and ran well returned to 5f when second at Haydock last week, simply no match for one right at the top of his game currently. This trip more suitable.
Stirrup Cup
Took advantage of a drop in grade at Carlisle in June. Back on track of late but he continues to make things difficult for himself with slow starts.
