Timeform View

BATTLE STANDARD proved a different proposition switched to a handicap for the first time when bolting up at Southwell 8 days ago and escaping a penalty for that, he looks to hold serious claims again with the prospect of more to come. Palliser similarly improved a chunk on his first start in a handicap when second over C&D recently and he's feared. Ballybunion may well complete a clean sweep for the 3-y-os. Yehudi may emerge best of the rest.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Battle Standard traded at a high of 4.90 and Betfair SP of 4.80 when winning last time, a race in which it raced in mid-field.

Timeform Comments

Alessia Fernanda (IRE)
Scored on her return (after a breathing operation) at Southwell (1m) in April. Best effort since when second at Pontefract (1m) in August and whilst not at her peak of late, this ease in class/return to a shorter trip both positives but others rate stronger.
Sant Alessio (IRE)
Ended last year with success over C&D from 4 lb higher in November. Lightly campaigned in 2026 but showed benefit of recent run and turned in best effort for a while when fourth over 9.5f here 18 days ago. Not discounted returned to a class 6.
Yehudi (IRE)
Channelled his energy more efficiently when finally off the mark at Kempton (7f) in May and it was a similar story when posting a solid third from his revised mark at Lingfield (7f) a month later. Absent since but he's effective at this longer trip and commands a second look.
Fools Rush In (IRE)
C&D winner who finished runner up at Southwell (7f) in April and, following 5 months off, showed promise having a rare start on turf when third at Catterick (7f) 23 days ago, running on to be nearest at the finish. On a handy mark if getting good pace to aim at.
Asian Journey (IRE)
Off the mark over C&D in June and ran at least as well when placed on his next 2 outings. Possible his first start for 3 months was needed at Southwell (1m) 2 weeks ago and expected to be sharper now.
Ballybunion (IRE)
3-y-o who remains a maiden but shaped as if still in good form despite not enjoying the smoothest of passages when third at Southwell (1m) 4 days ago. However, needs to pull out that bit more if he's to open his account here.
King Of Charm
Course winner who confirmed promise of his Yarmouth second when ending losing run at Newmarket (1m) in June. However, not in anything like the same form in trio of starts since, including on all-weather at Kempton 2 weeks ago. Cheekpieces go back on.
Palliser
Behind all 3 runs in 7f maiden/novice events but tighter in the betting, he took a sizeable step forward upped to this trip when second in a C&D handicap 10 days ago, outpaced over 1f out before staying on strongly. Less exposed than most and highly likely he has more to offer.
Book Of Life
Remains a long a time without a win but not for the first time highlighted he's threatening to come good soon when fourth at Musselburgh (1m) 6 weeks ago, nearest at the finish. However, he does need to keep the slow starts at bay.
Snaafy
Successful over C&D in December and twice went close back here thereafter last winter. Form rather up and down thereafter but found the fitting of cheekpieces liberating when a length third of 10 in handicap at Leicester (7f) 17 days ago. Well treated if able to back that up.
Battle Standard
Didn't show a great deal in his qualifying runs but well supported, he proved a completely different proposition when forging clear to score on handicap debut at Southwell (1m) 8 days ago. Escapes a penalty for that success and he ought to take some stopping with further progress likely.
