Timeform View

JODHPUR BLUE has managed only one career victory but is a much more solid proposition on all-weather and took a step in the right direction at Southwell in first-time cheekpieces 8 days ago, so looks the pick in this lowly contest. Three-time course winner R P Mcmurphy produced a rare below-par effort last time but will be a threat if bouncing back and seeing out the longer trip, while Freddy Robinson can continue his consistent spell.

Timeform Comments

R P Mcmurphy
Three-time course winner who won here over 8.6f in September and ran well when second at Southwell 27 days ago. Rare below-par effort last time and can bounce back in this company, assuming he stays the new longer trip.
Jodhpur Blue (FR)
Better on all-weather and, though yet to win a handicap or for this yard, he took a step in the right direction when second of 7 over 11f at Southwell 8 days ago in first-time cheekpieces and could go very well down slightly in trip with Billy Loughnane taking over.
Dr Rio (FR)
Veteran who won by 5 lengths over 11f at Carlisle in August and not disgraced from new mark when fifth of 10 at Beverley in September. Can remain competitive back on all-weather.
Bobacious
Won at Epsom in July, taking advantage of a sliding mark, but has run poorly both runs since and is yet to win on all-weather so others are preferred, especially given his stall 12.
Chesneys Charm
Made the frame 3 of last 4 starts, including over 1m at Newcastle but win strike rate in last couple of years is poor, though his most recent success came from 9 lb higher mark so if first-time cheekpieces do the trick here he could be a threat in this company. NON RUNNER.
Risen Again (FR)
Ran better when recording back-to-back seconds at Yarmouth and Chepstow in August but hard to fancy on last 2 efforts and blinkers now replace cheekpieces.
Just Typical
Back down to a handy mark and returned to form back on all-weather when third of 8 in a handicap at Newcastle 22 days ago. Often not looked an easy ride, though, and will need to settle and prove a lot more tractable to do the business over this longer trip.
Freddy Robinson
Has been running creditably in handicaps, making the frame on his last 6 outings in this sphere, including on tapeta at Southwell last month. Holds place claims once more.
It's A Love Thing
Back in better form last 2 starts, including when finishing second of 13 over C&D last month. This is a slight step back up in grade but he's a 3-time C&D winner so needs considering with stable amongst the winners over obstacles recently.
Al Za'ama (IRE)
Yet to win in 5 starts and was only eighth of 11 over C&D in September on his handicap debut so looks tough to fancy.
Deep Sleep
Failed to win for Tim Easterby but gradually going the right way for shrewd yard he's had 3 outings for and they could find the key to him at some point, though perhaps not from stall 13 here.
Bergamo Gold (IRE)
Won over C&D in March but hasn't built on that. Wasn't disgraced when fifth of 8 in handicap at Lingfield in August, though, and is now 3 lb below last winning mark so could be a player if returning from 67 days off in top form. NON RUNNER.
Port Noir
Has 8 wins at this course, including 3 over C&D, but was well held when 12th of 13 here 24 days ago after 4 months off and may need a few more outings to put her spot on for another winter campaign.
