Timeform View

SAXOPHONIST has been knocking firmly on the door for a while now and seemed well suited by the step up to this trip last time so he's a pretty strong fancy here assuming the run of the race doesn't go too much against him. Mountbatten is the main danger if that situation unfolds and he could prove hard to peg back, while Arouse is still learning and will do better at some stage.

Timeform Comments

Saxophonist (IRE)
Running well and beaten ½ length or less on 3 of his last 4 starts, most recently second of 12 in a handicap at Newcastle on first go at this trip 7 days ago. Yet to finish outside of the first 3 on all-weather, too, so this looks a good opportunity for him to break his duck.
Mountbatten (GER)
Made all at Southwell in June and placed twice since, including when third of 7 in a handicap at Kempton over this trip 14 days ago. Now tried in first-time blinkers and could get his own way out in front here.
Caraway
In good hands and won over C&D 18 days ago but 5 lb higher in the weights here and her 2 wins have come when held up in double-figure fields so this small-field scenario could leave her vulnerable.
Miss Guinevere (IRE)
Third twice in handicaps in Aug/Sept when shaping as if the step up to this trip should suit, but only sixth of 7 at Brighton on first attempt at it 25 days ago. Needs to bounce back returned to all-weather.
Arouse (IRE)
Still looked green but shaped pretty well when fifth of 12 over 8.6f at Wolverhampton 25 days ago on his handicap debut, finishing well to be nearest at the finish. This step up in trip should suit and he could have progress in him if proving more enthusiastic early on.
