TWO AULD PALS ran another solid race when third at Hexham 22 days ago and remains of interest for a yard operating at a healthy strike rate so far in October. Ashdown Forest may have more to offer for the Skeltons and heads up the opposition, along with Heart Above, who is most reliable at this track.

Timeform Comments

Monaco Rules (IRE)
Posted his best effort for current connections when runner-up in a 2½m handicap at Sedgefield last November. Seemingly found a step up to 0-130 company too competitive following lay-off at Hexham in May and now drops back in grade after another absence.
Two Auld Pals (IRE)
Capitalised on a drop in class in emphatic fashion when landing a second victory at Hexham (both on heavy) in May. Has acquitted himself well off a much higher subsequently, including when third of 7 back at Hexham 22 days ago following a recent spin on the Flat. Remains of interest.
Travis Wheatley (IRE)
Took advantage of a much reduced mark in first-time cheekpieces at Newcastle in March before creditable third of 9 at Ayr (2½m, heavy). However, let down by a terrible round of jumping when 21¾ lengths eighth of 12 to reopposing Heart Above when last seen here in May.
Heart Above
Needed every yard of the intermediate trip to register a third course win here (2½m) in May. No show at Cartmel next 2 outings but showed the benefit of a recent run when third of 7 back here (21f) on most recent outing. Drops back in trip but has been runner-up in last 2 renewals of this race.
Ashdown Forest (IRE)
Proved a different proposition when landing the odds on debut for Dan Skelton at Uttoxeter (2m) in July. Solid efforts in defeat next 2 outings before resuming winning ways in ready fashion back at 2m at Stratford. Seems sure to go well again.
Boston Jury (IRE)
Lost his way badly for Gordon Elliott but did hint at a revival back hurdling on first outing for new connections following a 9-week break at Perth on most recent outing. Remains to be seen if he's able to build on that.
Scots Poet
Veteran who continued his resurgence when making it 3 wins from his last 4 starts at Perth (2m) in June. Quickly put a first blip for this yard behind him when fourth of 8 in 2¼m handicap here last month and ought to remain competitive back down in trip.
Character Testing
Long-standing maiden who went with bags of enthusiasm in a refitted visor when chasing home a progressive rival at Sedgefield in late-August. Has shaped as if still in good form on both outings at same venue since, going off too hard on most recent outing. Blinkers now the choice of headgear.
