NEWTOWN RAMBLER sets a useful standard in his bid to make it 4 on the bounce over fences. He gets the vote, though it's hardly a bullish one given the significant amount of rain forecast. Interesting chasing debutant Smoke Trail and Coup de Coeur are feared most, the latter with least to prove should conditions become testing.

The Other Mozzie (IRE)
Ended 2024/25 with a career-best success in Premier Handicap at Ayr. Certainly well treated on that form, however, he was badly out of sorts last season (including a couple of starts for present yard). Usual cheekpieces back on for return.
Newtown Rambler (IRE)
Highly progressive when landing a chase hat-trick at Uttoxeter (2m, good) in June. Easy enough to forgive his subsequent run in the Summer Hurdle at Market Rasen. Sets the standard back chasing for in-form yard (4 wins from 8 runners since end of August), though forecast rain does give some pause.
Coup De Coeur (FR)
Ground-versatile chaser who enjoyed a fine first half of 2026. At the top of his game and by no means all out to resume winning ways in small-field handicap at Cartmel (17f) in May. Interesting if firing on all cylinders following 5 months away.
Smoke Trail (IRE)
Beat a debuting Lazare de Star (useful under Rules) to win second point start. Bookended last season with dominant front-running victories in Kelso hurdles, impressing with his jumping. Interesting handicap/chasing debut (looks the stable first string), for all testing ground would be an unknown.
From The Clouds (FR)
Front runner who matched his fairly useful winning hurdles form in a couple of novice chase starts at Ayr last winter. Reportedly made a respiratory noise on latest start there in February. Weighted to be competitive if back on song following a breathing operation.
