Timeform View

Unexposed stayer SEANIECON caught the eye when an unlucky fifth in a listed handicap at Punchestown back in April and looks the type who'll relish the staying test this promises to be. Moon Rocket could be the main threat if recapturing the pick of his novice hurdle form. Ace Of Spades and Idaho Fire also appeal for top yards, with out-and-out stayer Love Of Neymore completing the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Gowel Road (IRE)
Course regular who finished runner-up in 2024 renewal of this race (down the field 2025). Couldn't repeat his Cleeve Hurdle success when fourth in a stronger renewal in January. Did finish second off this mark at Chepstow on penultimate start last season and unlikely to be lacking for fitness.
Grann's Boy (IRE)
Suited by the emphasis on speed when useful winner of a listed handicap at the Galway Festival (22.5f) this summer. Ran at least as well in defeat when runner-up in a conditions race there prior to creditable effort in staying Flat handicap last time. Respected but stamina to prove up in trip.
Ace Of Spades (FR)
Chased home fast-improving Ma Shantou here (New Course) prior to overcoming a pace bias to land a weaker Pertemps Qualifier at Huntingdon (25f, soft) in January. Didn't get competitive in top-end spring handicaps, however, he did win on return last season and may relish more of a stamina test here.
Hang In There (IRE)
Smart performance to win a veterans chase at Chepstow last autumn. First-time visor failed to spark a revival in the Summer Cup at Uttoxeter on his latest start. First hurdle start in over 3 years (8 lb lower in this discipline) and presumably having a pipe-opener ahead of a return to fences.
Divilabother (IRE)
Strong traveller who has been one of the success stories of the last 4 months. Made it 5 wins from 7 starts in a thin Class 3 handicap at Uttoxeter (23f) last time. Entitled to find this a bridge too far, with the forecast rain hardly ideal for one who's relatively speedy.
Moon Rocket (IRE)
Close second in 2025 River Don a standout effort of his novice hurdle season. Went the wrong way after making an impressive winning debut over fences on reappearance last November. Now looks attractively treated off 6 lb lower hurdle mark, provided he's back on song following 6 months away.
Blizzard Of Oz (IRE)
Won a listed chase and a thin conditions hurdle at Thurles during a hit and miss 2025/6 for Willie Mullins. Shaped with no promise in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter on stable debut in late-June. Questions to answer on return, even with Harry Cobden aboard first time.
Champagne Chic (IRE)
Relatively low-mileage stayer. On the up when completing a double in a Pertemps Qualifier at Haydock in February. Wasn't seen to best effect following a standing start in the Final here and worth forgiving his subsequent Punchestown run. May have bigger targets down the line, though.
Seaniecon (IRE)
Lightly-raced 5-y-o. Looked a thorough stayer when well-held fifth in Grade 1 Sefton at Aintree in April. Likely to have gone very close in first-time cheekpieces (barring trouble) in listed handicap at Punchestown later that month. One of the least exposed runners and surely has serious claims.
Lihyan (IRE)
Strong-travelling sort who was delivered late to win at Newbury in March. Typically ran with credit in Class 2 handicaps thereafter and shaped as if retaining all his ability off a slower-than-ideal pace on return at Hexham. Has form on soft ground and return to a bigger field no harm, either.
Thank You Ma'am
Fairly useful stayer who again gave his running when 9½-length second at Chepstow on return earlier this month. Match fitness may well count for plenty if the forecast rain arrives, and he should be competitive off a 1 lb lower mark.
Kitty Foyle (IRE)
Made the most of a good opportunity in a 3-runner event at Wincanton (3m) in April. Again gave her running when 6¼-length third in a weak race for the grade at Newton Abbot (2¾m, good to firm) in late-August. Returns in better company and 3m under more testing conditions certainly a question mark.
Idaho Fire (IRE)
Beat a next-time-out winner to land a gamble on handicap debut at Worcester (2½m). More substance to the form of his follow-up win over Divilabother (won twice since) at Uttoxeter (23f) later in July. Remains unexposed in his bid to go 3-3 for outstanding yard, though testing conditions an unknown.
Bold Endeavour
Veteran who posted a fairly useful effort when beaten 7½ lengths in Pertemps Final here in March. Has looked on the slide since, for all he may have needed the run on second start for present yard at Newton Abbot last month.
Love Of Neymore
Game mare. Saw off Champagne Chic (won next 2) at Chepstow prior to a fine third behind Ace Of Spades/Ma Shantou here last winter. Again displayed plenty of stamina when third in first-time headgear (now discarded) at Ayr (3m, heavy) in April. Just out of the handicap but still one to keep on side.
Lucky Bere (FR)
Opened his hurdle account in a heavy-ground handicap at Wincanton (2½m). Pipped in a ding-dong battle with another progressive one at Hereford, perhaps still feeling those exertions at Newbury (21f) later in February. Booking of Sean Bowen suggests he could resume progress on first try over 3m.
Gold For Alec (FR)
Ended last season on a high when beaten 6½ lengths behind Matty's Getaway at Haydock. All the better for a pipe-opener/sure to be placed when falling at Chepstow (3m, soft) 2 weeks ago (presumably none the worse). Still relatively early days in staying handicaps, though is 5 lb out of the weights.
No More Bolero
Another success story for excellent yard. Unpenalised when completing a small-field handicap double at Hereford (3¼m) last time. Tough ask to make it a hat-trick from out of the weights, with stablemate Idaho Fire likely to have greater scope for improvement.
Stoner's Choice
Veteran whose latest win came at Kempton in spring 2023. Looked rusty on return at this corresponding fixture last year. Bare form of his mid-field finish in Windsor handicap in January now reads fairly well and while conditions hold no fears, it's hard to be confident at this stage of his career.
