Timeform View

KEV had nothing to spare at Wolverhampton on his most recent outing, but he's still lightly raced for his current yard and a 3 lb rise doesn't look insurmountable. Veteran Al Suil Eile caught the eye with how he made up his ground from a less-than-ideal position over C&D last month and will be a danger to all if building on that run, while Crown The Future is another last-time-out scorer who merits respect.

Timeform Comments

Battle Standard
Didn't show a great deal in his qualifying runs but well supported, he proved a completely different proposition when forging clear to score on handicap debut over C&D (1m) 9 days ago. Likely to progress further. Engaged 4.25 Wolverhampton Friday.
Lili Marleen (GER)
Winner on all-weather at Chantilly in December and stopped the slide for current yard with cheekpieces fitted for the first time in Britain when second of 11 over C&D last week. Unlikely to be far away again if reproducing that.
Kev
Cemented the good start he's made for current yard when gaining a second hard-fought victory in 8-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 11/8) 25 days ago. Enjoyed the run of the race and had nothing to spare at the line but a 3 lb rise shouldn't prevent another bold bid.
African Spirit (IRE)
Posted his best effort since joining current yard to come out on top in 8-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 11/8) 25 days ago by head from Dumfries, getting first run in a steadily-run race. Wouldn't be sure to confirm that form from a 2 lb higher mark.
Grand Citadel (IRE)
Benefited from the refitting of blinkers earlier in the season, doubling her tally when making most at Leicester (7f) in May. Found life much tougher in stronger company next 2 starts but again ran poorly back down in grade after 3 months off at Brighton recently.
Captain Corelli (IRE)
Successful on 4 of his 5 starts on turf during 2024 but struggled for form last year and hasn't offered much encouragement on either start back following another breathing operation.
Oscar's Sister (IRE)
Remains with just the one career victory back in 2022 and again failed to settle when sixth at Doncaster (1m) on her most recent outing. Still to prove herself at this trip.
Crown The Future (IRE)
Proved better than ever when doubling his tally in 12-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 26 days ago. Was better placed than most but accounted for a next-time-out winner and should remain competitive from a 5 lb higher mark.
Knightmare (IRE)
Gained reward for a string of solid efforts when shedding maiden tag in classified race at Chepstow (1m) in July and posted fine second at Ffos Las 4 days later. Below that level since, though wasn't seen to anything like best effect when 3 lengths fifth to African Spirit at Wolverhampton latest.
Love You More
Tends to start slowly but did get off the mark in 1m classified event at Lingfield under Billy Loughnane in July. Hasn't reproduced that level in 3 handicaps since, though.
Dumfries
Below last winning mark and has been shaping as though ready to cash, finishing with a flourish held up in a steadily-run race when second to African Spirit at Wolverhampton (8.6f) on penultimate outing. Proved a let-down over C&D a fortnight ago but likely to be in the shake-up if bouncing back.
Blue Samuna (IRE)
Failed to go on for Jane Chapple-Hyam and hasn't fired in 3 handicap starts for her current yard either. On the upside, she's eased further in the weights ahead of this switch to tapeta.
Al Suil Eile (FR)
4-time C&D winner for Shaun Harris. Down to a handy mark for this yard and caught the eye with his finishing effort in refitted cheekpieces when fifth over C&D last month. Danger to all if building on that.
Rogue Desire (FR)
Finished third on debut for Jack Jones but mainly downhill since, offering little in 3 handicap starts for Jack Morland. Has switched to another yard and now drops back down markedly in trip.
