Timeform View

AGE OF TIME shaped well last time and may make his second start for Tony Carroll a winning one. Mount Ruapehu is feared in his bid to make it 4-4 over C&D and heads the dangers along with interesting stable-switcher Mehmar. Due Date and Papa Don't Preach also merit consideration in a race where several look potentially well treated.

Timeform Comments

Dragon God
Belatedly off the mark in similar company at Yarmouth in August. Probably still in form, having been denied a clear run first outing since leaving Tony Carroll at Windsor (5f) last time. Eases slightly in grade with first-time hood added for return to 6f.
Havana Joy
Placed in several all-weather novice/maiden races last spring. Hasn't beaten a rival in 4 handicap starts, latterly in first-time blinkers/tongue strap at Brighton (7f) in May. Well handicapped if revived by a subsequent breathing operation, though it's a sizeable if.
Age Of Time (FR)
Doubled his tally when with the Ian Williams yard this time last year. Has fallen to a handy mark following a low-key spell with Steph Hollinshead. Supported/shaped well when beaten 2 lengths here (5f) on first start for shrewd stable. Makes plenty of appeal back up in trip.
Due Date
C&D winner who completed a hat-trick this time last year. Back on an attractive mark following a slow start to this year. Travelled smoothly when 2¼ lengths third in a similar event at Wolverhampton latest. Set to be in the mix again, though will need a stronger finishing effort to land the spoils.
Piperstown (IRE)
All-weather regular who produced a career best when completing a double over C&D in April. Mitigation for both turf starts since (too free on reappearance last time) and ought to at least be competitive back on his latest winning mark.
Edmond Halley (IRE)
Maiden who has proved expensive to follow. Ran well on form dropped into this grade when ¾-length third in first-time hood at Newcastle last time, though again looked awkward under pressure. Cheekpieces now added to mix (previously worn in Ireland) and well treated if putting it all in.
He's An Angel
Free-going sort. Capitalised on drop into classified company at Wolverhampton in June. Finished his summer campaign in better heart than form figures would suggest and did run well on reappearance this time last year. One of 3 in the race for stable.
Papa Don't Preach (IRE)
Four-time all-weather winner who went close to opening his turf account at Yarmouth (5f) in August. Return of hood looks a positive having been lit up by blinkers when mid-field in a 12-runner Wolverhampton handicap latest. Lurking on a dangerous mark if things fall right.
Mount Ruapehu (IRE)
Went 3-3 over C&D in the spring. Well backed to capitalise on much reduced mark at Newcastle last time, but he was again below form in refitted cheekpieces. Certainly well weighted if return to this course sparks a revival.
Montpellier Green (IRE)
Sole win came as a juvenile for Joseph O'Brien in 2024. Fallen a long way in the weights since. Finished as close as he has for present yard when 4 lengths fifth of 10 at Wolverhampton last time. Probably still needed that run, too, and he's worth a second look dropped in class.
Addictive (IRE)
Maiden who looks to have gone the wrong way since leaving George Boughey, for all he may have needed the run when trailing the field at Kempton last time.
Uncle Sam
Off the mark in a Newcastle nursery (6f) in autumn 2024. Went close to doubling his tally from a reduced mark over the same C&D last time. It's been a positive start for present yard and he ran well on his sole previous start here.
Dr Ali (IRE)
Latest success came in a Wolverhampton classified event in March. Back to form returned to that company when ½-length second at Lingfield penultimate start. More hit than miss in handicaps this year, though, for all he possibly needed the run following 9 weeks away at Wolverhampton latest.
Mehmar (IRE)
On a losing sequence that stretches back to 2024. Attractively handicapped on the pick of his efforts for Nigel Slevin in Ireland this year, though, and looks potentially interesting with Callum Shepherd booked on first start for capable yard.
