Timeform View

Having steadily gone the right way as a novice, BROOKSIDE LA made an impressive return from 6 months off when scoring with a good deal of authority at Worcester 18 days ago. Remaining unexposed over staying trips, he may well be up to defying the rise in class for his top yard. Western Monkey was successful on his hurdles debut at Haydock last winter and retains potential now handicapping, with Molto Bene for her in-form yard and Keep on Cobbling others to consider.

Timeform Comments

Keable (IRE)
Made a successful reappearance at Newbury (3m) in November and resumed winning ways under this pilot at Chepstow (23.6f, soft) in February. Not seen to ideal effect when down the field at Uttoxeter (23f) on final outing but his present mark demands that bit more nevertheless on seasonal bow.
Serious Chat (IRE)
Enjoyed a very good 2025/26, ending it with a cosy success from 3 lb lower at Haydock (3m) in April. Struggled up in grade over same C&D next time, though, and he produced a low-key chase debut effort on return to action at Worcester (23f) 4 weeks ago.
Molto Bene (IRE)
Dual hurdles winner who bettered that form over fences last season, winning first 2 starts and runner up on all 4 starts thereafter, edged out close home at Market Rasen (21.4f) when last seen in April. Record fresh very much a positive ahead of this reappearance back hurdling for in-form yard.
Walking On Air (IRE)
Formerly very useful hurdler/chaser who showed he still has something to offer when fifth in class 2 handicap hurdle at Haydock (3m) in May. However, extended a losing run back over fences at Bangor later that month and others rate stronger having been reunited with former stable ahead of return.
Lihyan (IRE)
Strong-travelling sort who was delivered late to win at Newbury in March. Typically ran with credit in Class 2 handicaps thereafter and shaped as if retaining all his ability off a slower-than-ideal pace on return at Hexham. Engaged 2.20 Cheltenham Saturday.
Western Monkey
7-y-o was successful on only start in points and maintained his 100% record when landing 5-runner maiden hurdle at Haydock (3m) back in December, overcoming obvious inexperience to boot. Absent since but he clearly retains potential for better still now handicapping.
Ile De Jersey (FR)
In good form last summer, winning handicap hurdle (here) and chases over 2½m. However, ended 2025 on a low-key note in latter sphere, pulled up at Doncaster when last seen in December. Others preferred back over hurdles following 10 months off.
Brookside La (IRE)
Steadily progressive during his novice season and he took a sizeable step forward when making a winning reappearance at Worcester (2½m, good to soft) 18 days ago, staying on well. Remains unexposed at this longer trip and easing ground won't hold any fears. Lots to like.
Masked Dance (FR)
Course winner who resumed winning ways at Ludlow in December and good efforts when runner-up there next 2 outings. Handicapper seemingly had her measure when midfield on final 2 starts during the spring but she's unexposed at this trip and not discounted if ready to roll after 5 months off.
Some Scope
Revitalised by visor when adding to his tally over fences at Doncaster (3m) in December and back to that sort of form when second at Newbury in March. Produced a tame effort when pulled up at Haydock a month later but does have a lower mark to work from back hurdling. Cheekpieces replace visor.
Azahara Palace
Fairly useful on Flat and won a 2m Hexham novice on second hurdles start last winter. Lightly raced since, unseating mid race on first crack at this trip at Ayr in April. Good chance she'll strip fitter for last month's Flat return there and unlikely we've seen all she has to offer over hurdles.
Crack Ops
Bumper winner who crucially jumped better than previously when opening his account over hurdles in 7-runner handicap at Uttoxeter (23f) in May. Seemed anchored by 7 lb rise when second in 3-runner contest on Southwell return 24 days ago but this 4-y-o remains unexposed granted this sort of test.
Keep On Cobbling
Low-mileage 6-y-o who has tasted success twice over hurdles at up to 21f. In good form when last seen, finishing runner up at Warwick prior to not being seen to best effect (snatched up before last) when third at Cartmel (25f) 5 months ago. Well worth another crack at this sort of trip.
