Timeform View

LIRAKALI failed by the narrowest of margins on his recent hurdling debut at Gowran and is fancied to build on it and go one better here. Gordon Elliott's hurdling newcomer Soul Asylum brings a fair bit of potential from bumpers and rates the main danger, while Backinbusiness and Farney Bridge can fight it out for minor honours.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Lirakali traded at a low of 1.10 and Betfair SP of 30.00 when losing last time, a race in which it raced in mid-field.

Timeform Comments

Farney Bridge (IRE)
Bumper winner who has shown promise when in the frame in maiden hurdles at Listowel and Fairyhouse (2m, good) this summer. Likely capable of better still. Not ruled out.
L'un Deux Trois (IRE)
Fair Flat winner but maiden over hurdles and fences. Well held on Flat at Roscommon (1½m, soft) 13 days ago. Others appeal more.
Soul Asylum (IRE)
£280,000 Walk In The Park gelding. Runner-up in a point and made a successful debut under Rules in a Punchestown bumper in February. Backed it up with a good sixth in similar company there in April. Very much one to consider on hurdles debut.
Victors Spirit (SAF)
Fell both runs over hurdles early in 2026. Fair 11f Flat winner for Neil King since but beat one on yard debut on Flat at Gowran 6 days ago.
Game Shadow (IRE)
Perth bumper winner on yard debut in August but a well-held third of 6 in bumper at Listowel (2m, good to soft) 29 days ago. Makes hurdles debut.
Backinbusiness (IRE)
Has shaped with promise on both his runs in early summer, staying on after a mistake 3 out when fifth of 17 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (19f, good) on latter occasion. This son of Saddex is open to improvement after a break.
Grey Balls Of Fire (IRE)
Off the mark at the fourth attempt in points and looked for one for the longer term sent hurdling when ninth of 12 in maiden at Navan (2¾m) in January. Off 9 months since.
Jessbers Wish (IRE)
50/1, encouraging fourth of 17 in novice at Limerick (2m, heavy) on hurdles bow 10 months ago. This son of Blue Bresil is likely capable of better and no forlorn hope on his seasonal return.
Jetaway Mountain (IRE)
Runner-up sole start in points but little promise in bumper here and when eighth of 15 in novice at Listowel (19f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 30 days ago.
Katoomba (IRE)
Marcel gelding. Dam unraced. The market can guide for this newcomer.
Lirakali (FR)
Voiladenuo gelding. Shaped well when second in Clonmel bumper in May and when beaten a nose in 20-runner novice at Gowran (2m, good to soft) on his hurdles bow 23 days ago. The one to beat with progress very much on the cards.
Llem's (FR)
Showed promise in a pair of maiden hurdles late in 2025. Sent off odds on when a below-par fourth of 8 in novice hurdle at Tramore (2m, good to soft) on his return 17 days ago, making mistakes. Bounce back is needed.
Orchard Cross (IRE)
Hooded and tongue tied when a remote sixth of 8 in maiden hurdle at Limerick (19f, heavy) on debut in March. Needs to take a big step forward.
Oyster Cottage (IRE)
£85,000 4-y-o, Blue Bresil gelding. Dam, fair in bumpers/over hurdles, is a half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 2¾m) Watcombe Heights. Runner-up in a point late in 2025. A considered hurdling debutant.
