LAND OF PUNT has joined a yard with a good record with recruits from other stables and, with his recent return likely to have brought him on, he looks worth chancing in a race where a little improvement may go a long way, with last year’s course winner Cathryns Ruby feared most after a consistent spell in handicaps and Chosen Shant respected given her 4 wins from 8 at Wexford.

Timeform Comments

Club Manager
On lengthy losing run but found only a single rival too good on 3 occasions last season, chasing home River Vale in amateur handicap at Naas on third occasion. Not seen in this sphere since finishing fourth at same course in January but should be fitter for recent Flat outing. Cheekpieces back on.
River Vale (IRE)
Won 3 times last season, winning an amateur handicap hurdle at Naas in between a pair of handicap chase wins, the latter of which was a 6-runner event at Cork in April. Cheekpieces worn that day removed but potentially well treated on that performance now back over hurdles after 6-month break.
Jumbos Jet (IRE)
Confirmed previous promise over hurdles when winning mares maiden at Clonmel in May by 1¼ lengths from Crossbar Getaway. Makes handicap debut after 5 months off and improvement needed if she's to make an impact.
Crowsatedappletart (IRE)
Likeable sort who won 3 times over fences last year and added another at this course in May. Has failed to repeat those efforts since, mostly over hurdles, and hardly shaped like a return to form was imminent at Limerick a week ago.
Qaasid (IRE)
Justifiably awarded 15-runner C&D handicap (soft) in May, but well below that form on next 2 starts. Returns from 115-day break with cheekpieces removed.
Cathryns Ruby (IRE)
Won a hurdle at this course last season prior to posting several creditable in-frame efforts. Return to this venue can only be viewed as a positive and likely to be firmly in the mix for a yard in good order and firmly among the winners at present.
Rathbawn Soldier (IRE)
Took form to a new level when making a winning handicap debut at Naas in March, drawing clear of a well-supported pair. Struggled from 9 lb higher mark next time, held when brought down last. Needs to resume progress on return from 7-month absence and debut for new yard.
Albatala (IRE)
Runner-up twice in handicaps at Down Royal twice last season. Won on the Flat in June and ran well when 3½ lengths second of 7 to Crystabel in handicap hurdle at Sligo the following month. Mid-division back on the Flat 18 days ago and likely needs to step up on previous hurdling form to figure.
Chosen Shant (IRE)
Both hurdles wins at this track and has scored in 2 handicap chases here this season, the latest over 19f in August. Not so good since, but not seen to best effect in novice chase at Cork last time and no surprise were she to fare better now returned to this venue.
Land Of Punt (IRE)
Placed twice over hurdles (including handicap) for Tom Lacey last season. Sold out of that yard for £8,000 after a lesser effort at Aintree in May and shaped as if needing the run on debut for this yard last time. Yard does well with recruits from other stables and looks capable of being involved.
Prince Inger (FR)
Left previous efforts well behind when 11½ lengths seventh of 14 to Lady Doyanne in maiden hurdle at this course in August 2025. Best watched on return from 14-month absence.
Jay Jay Zee (IRE)
Has shown very little since returning from a lengthy absence in April.
You Done Well (IRE)
In frame first 3 starts this season, including over C&D but has struggled of late and blinkers now back on in replace of cheekpieces.
Esticky End (IRE)
Is an unreliable sort but notched up 2m and 2½m handicap wins at this course in the summer. Never a factor at Gowran on hat-trick bid, though, and hopes pinned on return to this venue sparking a return to form.
Arctic Piper (IRE)
Long-standing maiden. Ran best race this season when 8½ lengths third of 11 to Build A Bridge at Punchestown handicap hurdle earlier this month. Needs to build on that. RESERVE.
