Timeform View

Plenty in with a squeak but the vote goes to DEARG MOR, who shaped well and was a bit unlucky sent chasing after 11 weeks off when finishing a close third to Springboard earlier in the month. He can get the better of Potters Pal, who made a winning start in this sphere at Listowel last month and is his new trainer's first runner (successful amateur jockey). Harty Cup and Lanzhou can fight out minor honours.

Timeform Comments

Clonbury Bridge (IRE)
Fairyhouse scorer around this time last year and not disgraced in that same race back from 5 months off when fifth of 9 recently. Handicapper relinquishes his grip and drops back markedly in trip.
Leave In Secret (IRE)
Dual hurdles winner. Still a maiden over fences but went like the best horse at the weights when second of 8 to next-time-out winner at Wexford in August. Proved to be a disappointment racing from the same mark at Tramore since so bounce back needed.
Mount Frisco (IRE)
Dual chase-hurdles winner at Gowran and Clonmel last season but in the process of running below form when departing at Tramore (2¾m, good to soft) when last seen in April. Will probably need this outing.
Potters Pal (FR)
Made frame in 2 of 3 point starts. Justified support in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (19f, heavy) in March and having run well on return when third at Listowel on return last month, made a successful debut over fences 2 days later in 14-runner handicap. New trainer's first runner and more to come.
Along The Way
Showed ability when fourth in a big-field Navan maiden hurdle in December 2024 but he hasn't made much of an impact since, including switched to this sphere in 3 starts last season. Worth market check on handicap debut - though owner's second string on jockey bookings.
Bigbraveboy (IRE)
Opened his account at Tramore last November. Ended last season with a whimper though so watching brief advised on return.
Leni's Law (IRE)
In frame twice over hurdles but no impact in a couple of beginners chases 5 months apart. Will need to leave that well behind now handicapping.
Lanzhou (FR)
Belatedly off the mark over hurdles in 9-runner handicap at Tramore (2m, good to soft) earlier in the month, scoring cosily having been produced to lead last. One to consider with attentions now switched to the larger obstacles.
Piccolo Player (IRE)
Fair winning hurdler who has made a solid start over fences, placing in both a novice and a maiden in the summer. Has failed to build on that in a couple of handicaps since so percentage call is to look elsewhere despite his reduced mark.
Prince Palace (FR)
Has gone the wrong way since winning as a novice at Navan and, while his 10-length second to Ballagh Star here was one of his better recent efforts, he remains difficult to rely on and a risky betting proposition. Blinkers reapplied.
Harty Cup (IRE)
Off the mark on penultimate start at Clonmel and backed that up when third of 10 in handicap hurdle at Wexford (2m, heavy) back in March. This trip more suitable and he's an interesting chase debutant returning from 7 months off. Owner's first choice on jockey bookings.
Parkgarve (IRE)
Capitalised on his falling mark under enterprising ride over hurdles at Downpatrick in August. However, failed to repeat that by a long chalk at Kilbeggan later that month and exploits over fences previously have been no better than modest. Others preferred with cheekpieces replacing blinkers.
Springboard (IRE)
Opened account in handicap hurdle at Limerick (2m) in April and returned to form with a run under his belt to get off the mark over fences at the second time of asking in 10-runner handicap over C&D (soft) just under 3 weeks ago. 6 lb higher here and not discounted.
Dontcavein (IRE)
Maiden hurdler who shaped better than the distance beaten suggested when fourth of 6 in handicap at Tramore (15f, good to soft) on debut over fences earlier in the month, weakening quickly having seemingly taken a false step turning out the back straight.
Dearg Mor (IRE)
Improved over hurdles when making the frame in handicaps around 3m on first 2 outings this season. Stumbled soon after the start when below-par fourth of 16 at Kilbeggan in July but shaped well sent chasing when third of 10 over C&D earlier in the month. Every chance nudged up 2 lb.
