Timeform View

WEFFAAG has soft ground as a possible excuse on his York handicap debut and is given another chance as some of his earlier form suggests this mark should be workable. Fellow 3-y-os Siwa Oasis, a recent C&D winner, and Rogue Messiah head the many dangers along with Kempton specialist I'm Workin On It.

Timeform Comments

I'm Workin On It
Most reliable at this track, winning 4 times over this trip, the latest in May. Creditable in-frame efforts over 1m here on his last 3 outings and should give another good account.
Rogue Messiah (IRE)
Doubled his tally when landing 6f handicap at Lingfield in April for Jack Jones and stepped up markedly on first 2 runs for new yard when second of 13 in C&D handicap 3 weeks ago, that despite not travelling too kindly. Considered from an inside stall.
Blue Prince (IRE)
Registered a second victory of the campaign in claiming company at Chester (7.6f) in August and recent exploits suggest he's firmly at the top of his game, finishing third of 12 to Siwa Oasis over C&D 12 days ago.
Aigeas (FR)
Bit all or nothing so far but useful on his days, including course handicap wins over 6f/7f this summer. A wide stall offers some mitigation for a poor run in a series final over 6f here last time.
Wild Nature
Won over C&D last November for Ed Bethell but has not reached the same heights this year, including for his new yard when sixth of 11 over C&D last month. More needed despite a falling mark.
Tavana
Dual winner at 2 yrs who got back on track returned to calmer waters when second of 6 in handicap at Newbury (7f, firm) in July. Not so good at Sandown in August and freshened up since. Ran with credit on her previous all-weather start. Hooded first time.
Dr Strangelove
Won twice over 6f last year, including here. Back to best when runner-up over 7f on turf in June/July but has gone off the boil since. Tongue tie refitted. Drawn widest.
Pinatubo's Legacy
Made winning debut in novice at Newcastle (7f) last November. Shaped quite well when fifth of 10 in 7f Newmarket handicap in August and latest below-par run came in a strong Class 2 at the Doncaster St Leger meeting. Cheekpieces worn then are discarded.
Siwa Oasis (IRE)
Showed his handicap mark to be lenient at the second time of asking when winning 12-runner C&D event 12 days ago, with the reopposing Blue Prince third. A 5 lb rise shouldn't prevent another prominent showing.
Caviar Cowboy
Confirmed previous promise when making a winning handicap debut at Lingfield (7f, all-weather) in April. Good second over C&D next time and has had excuses since, caught too far back when fifth of 11 over 6f here last time (first run since being gelded).
City Cyclone
Started 2026 with an all-weather, including twice over 6f here. His run of good form ended in the spring, though, and surely a chance he'll need this after 6 months off.
Weffaag
Came good on the back of a breathing operation when landing cramped odds in 6-runner novice at Newcastle (7f) last month. Possibly unsuited by soft ground when well held on York handicap debut since. Retains potential for top yard back on all-weather. Gets the vote from a handy draw.
Port Road (USA)
Three-time all-weather winner (including here) who took a step back in the right direction when third of 13 over C&D last month. Shaped as if still in good when fifth of 10 over 1m here since.
Lunario (IRE)
Back to winning ways at Ascot (7f) in July. Creditable fourth of 14 at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) last month but not in quite the same form when sixth of 11 back there since.
