TWISTTHENIGHTAWAY won her first 2 starts in handicap hurdles, at this course on the second occasion, and she can leave behind a lesser effort as she makes her seasonal/chasing debut. Out of a useful chaser, she gets the vote ahead of The Big Breac who was successful on last season's return, with Bataillon completing the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Twistthenightaway (IRE)
Improved up in trip sent handicapping over hurdles, making it back-to-back wins with a cosy success at this venue (23f) in February. Shaped as if amiss when pulled up at Ayr in April, but's she's bred to make a chaser so is well worth another chance for her leading yard.
Finn Lough (IRE)
Without a win last season but returned to form when runner-up at Musselburgh in February. Has been prone to the odd mistake, though, yet to be asked for effort in third when falling 4 out at Newcastle in March. Capable of getting involved if ready to go after 7 months off.
Gasmani (IRE)
Strong gelding who opened his hurdles account at Taunton in April. After 5 months off (had breathing operation), shaped encouragingly when fourth of 10 at Worcester 20 days ago. Point winner and should be suited by this step back up in trip on chasing debut.
Liege Ardent (FR)
Dual winner over fences at up to 2½m in France last season. Back over hurdles last 3 outings, in blinkers (now left off) when good second of 9 in handicap at Dieppe (19f) in July. Up in trip as he makes first run after leaving J. Delaunay.
Soldier For Glory (IRE)
In contention when unseating only start in Irish points but well beaten in a pair of 4-runner novice hurdles at Ffos Las early this year. The market could be informative, though, as he makes a quick switch to handicap chases with yard going well.
Daly Boy (FR)
Runner-up in an Irish point and promise on sole outing in bumpers. Runner-up to subsequent Grade 2 winner at Sedgefield on hurdles bow but failed to build on that in 3 subsequent outings, fifth of 8 in handicap here (23f) in March. Has had second breathing operation ahead of chasing debut.
Bataillon
Made second chase start a winning one at Taunton in January, form which worked out well. Placed on 2 of 3 remaining starts of the campaign and he enters calculations with stable in good form ahead of his return from 6 months off.
The Big Breac (IRE)
Made a winning seasonal/chasing debut at Wetherby in November last year and good third in a stronger handicap at Newcastle next time. Wasn't in the same form last 2 starts, though he could yet do better returning on the back of a breathing operation.
Cahier's Den (IRE)
Remains winless under Rules but improved on his hurdles form when making the frame in first 3 chase starts early this year. Lesser effort when sixth of 10 over this C&D in May, though made a bad mistake at the second. Off 5 months since (has had a breathing operation).
Babatunde (IRE)
Produced his best effort over hurdles when second of 12 in handicap at Taunton (19f) in February last year. Placed on sole outing in Irish points earlier in his career, though has 20-month absence to overcome making his first chase start.
Pappariche
Successful on the first of her 2 starts in Irish points, but little impact in her qualifying runs over hurdles and failed to improve when fifth of 12 in handicap at Chepstow 16 days ago. Worth a market check as she switches to chasing.
My Bobby's Lass
Doubled her hurdles tally in 2½m handicap at Worcester in May last year. After 16 months off, has possibly been building up her fitness in 2 chase starts this season, fourth of 6 in handicap at Southwell last time. This run should reveal more up in trip.
On The Platform (IRE)
C&D winner on first of 2 starts in 2024/25 and shaped as if retaining ability after 19 months off when fifth of 10 here in May. However, has gone backwards from that effort in 2 outings since. Races from 7 lb out of the weights.
