Timeform View

Marginal preference is for BESSIE WALLIS who got right back on track when just denied at Brighton last time and is fancied to go one better off the same mark here. Hvar has failed to hit top form for John and Sean Quinn but can boast winning C&D form and is not ruled out with Oisin Murphy an eye-catching booking. Territorial Star and Barry The Worm also warrant plenty of respect in this very open-looking handicap.

Timeform Comments

Bold Return (IRE)
Lightly-raced maiden. Good fourth at Southwell (5f) in March but off since fourteenth of 15 in handicap at Nottingham (6f, good) following month. Needs to hit the ground running.
Bessie Wallis (IRE)
Winless this season but back on song for her current yard with second of 9 in handicap at Brighton (6f, good to soft) 12 days ago, just failing. Weighted to go close off an unchanged mark.
Navertity (IRE)
Showed some promise when fourth in Wolverhampton novice on debut but was subsequently sold out of Harry Charlton's stable for 5,500 gns and has shown little in a pair of 6f/7f novices at Newcastle for new connections. Makes handicap debut.
Love Alive
Scored over 5f here in February for Martin Dunne. Has failed to go on since an encouraging debut for present yard, tried in a hood on last 2 runs.
Territorial Star
Remains winless but back on track with creditable third of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (7f) 11 days ago. Well in the mix with Billy Loughnane now up.
Bleep Test
Won a 6f Redcar maiden last season but hasn't offered much this year and easy to oppose again on her tapeta debut.
Barry The Worm
Back to winning ways over 7f here in September and followed it with a respectable fourth of 13 in handicap at Southwell (7f) 12 days ago. This C&D scorer needs considering.
El Ghuwah (IRE)
Hinted at promise in novice company but looked unsuited by the drop in trip when tenth of 12 on his handicap debut at Southwell (5f) last month. Can do better back at 6f now.
Sprinting Speed (IRE)
Yet to win but took a step back in the right direction in refitted cheekpieces (retained) with fourth of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (7f) 11 days ago. Not out of things eased 1 lb.
Masai Angel (FR)
Not proving easy to catch right and a below-par seventh of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) 11 days ago. More required if he's to get off the mark here.
Dabbling (IRE)
Remains winless and she added to a patchy profile when a below-par sixth of 10 in handicap at Catterick (6f, good to firm) 27 days ago.
Hvar
C&D winner at 2yrs for Ralph Beckett. Yet to fire for current yard but hinted at a revival with sixth of 11 in 5f handicap here 25 days ago. Not without interest with Oisin Murphy now in the saddle and worth a market check.
It's A Mugs Game
Modest maiden. Not discredited in first-time cheekpieces when seventh of 13 in handicap at Bath (5f, good to soft) last month. No forlorn hope on tapeta debut.
