BEN HUR has been in good heart in his 3 outings this season, making his second handicap start on the Flat a winning one at Leopardstown in August and runner-up in a listed handicap over hurdles since. He gets the vote ahead of the hat-trick seeking Ryefield Dasher, with Granville Street also considered.

Timeform Comments

Glenroyal (IRE)
Winner over C&D at last year's festival and also successful on final 2 outings of the campaign. Hasn't managed to kick on tried over longer trips this season, though, never involved in the Irish Cesarewitch (17f) last time. Switches back to cheekpieces for return to shorter.
Mister Adam
Upped to 1½m for handicap debut, showed improved form when opening account at Leopardstown in May last year. Ran poorly next time, though after 15 months off he probably needed the outing when mid-field at Gowran 8 days ago. This run should reveal more.
Unauthorized (IRE)
Doubled his tally when scoring in 6.5f handicap at Listowel in May and went close at the Curragh (7f) in September. Has struggled for form since, though did have excuses (raced wide) when down the field at Leopardstown (8.5f) 9 days ago. Significantly up in trip.
Ben Hur (IRE)
Fairly useful winning hurdler who ran well making handicap/seasonal debut back on the Flat when third at this course (16.5f) in July. Successful at Leopardstown (13f) next time, before runner-up in listed handicap hurdle at Listowel last month. Strong claims.
Ballybawn Belter (IRE)
Winner of a listed handicap chase in December and shaped well on Flat debut when third in 1¾m maiden at Gowran last month. Built on that effort at the second attempt when winning 7-runner maiden at Killarney (11f) 22 days ago. Makes handicap debut in this sphere.
Royal Saxo (FR)
Fairly useful form in France, winning a pair of claimers last year. Has offered encouragement in handicaps on last 3 starts for current yard, not ideally placed and meeting trouble when sixth of 15 at Listowel 5 weeks ago. One to note, especially if the market speaks in his favour.
Ryefield Dasher (IRE)
Ran well on first 2 starts upped to 1½m this summer, including at this course, before winning a Gowran maiden (9.5f) in September. Followed up when making all in minor event at Roscommon (10.5f) 15 days ago and he can make a bold bid for the hat-trick.
Slurricane (IRE)
Winner of this race last year from a 1 lb higher mark. Mixed form since including over jumps, though ran one of better races when third of 15 in handicap hurdle at Listowel last month. Not ruled out back at this venue.
Granville Street (IRE)
Dual-purpose performer who has returned to form back on the Flat last 2 starts, beaten only by a progressive 3-y-o in 21-runner handicap at the Curragh (1¾m) 12 days ago. Enters calculations with visor now the choice of headgear.
Speckled Meadow (IRE)
Without a win this year but ran well when beaten only by an improver in 11-runner handicap at Naas (10.5f) on first outing this month. However, found things tougher when down the field at Leopardstown (11.5f) 9 days ago.
Shay's Dream (IRE)
Has shown improved form since upped in trip in handicaps, getting off the mark at Killarney (11f) early this month. Another good effort when third of 14 at Gowran (1½m) 8 days ago and he can go well again despite racing from 3 lb out of the weights.
