Timeform View

CLAP OF THUNDER failed to justify favouritism on his chase bow at Market Rasen when last seen on Boxing Day, but it was still an encouraging effort, so he gets the vote with progress likely and his yard in good form. Nazare jumped much better when scoring on his second chase start at Southwell so is another to consider, while Scavengers Reign is an interesting newcomer over fences.

Timeform Comments

Clap Of Thunder (IRE)
Won 2m Ascot novice this time 2 years ago. Hasn't done much wrong in 4 subsequent starts, including when third on chase bow at Market Rasen on Boxing Day. Off since but he's open to improvement in this sphere and yard remain in good form.
Krak (FR)
Winning hurdler in Ireland who is getting the hang of things over fences from an easing mark, finishing runner-up for the second start in a row at Bangor. Quickly back chasing now having struggled back over hurdles next time. Change of headgear.
Cuban Court (IRE)
Took very well to chasing last season, winning 3 (all at Doncaster) of his first 4 starts. Disappointed off revised mark at Market Rasen on final start but worth another chance. Usual headgear left off.
It's Top (FR)
Didn't kick on in bumpers following debut success, and having made a bright start over hurdles, it's been a similar story in that sphere, though did fare a lot better on second handicap start at Chepstow when last seen in the spring. Has had second breathing operation. Makes chase debut.
Legal Weapon (GER)
Bumper winner on debut. Made the frame first 5 starts over hurdles but often found little for pressure and was tailed off on his handicap bow when last seen in April. Has since had a breathing operation. Makes chase bow.
Nazare (FR)
Landed back-to-back handicap hurdles in November last year and left chase debut well behind when making all in 4-runner event at Southwell in June, thanks largely to a much sharper display of jumping. Makes more appeal than most.
Sopran Thor (FR)
Hasn't shown much in this sphere nor between the flags since coming home alone in a 21f selling handicap at Fakenham in April 2023. Off 20 months.
Scavengers Reign (IRE)
Justified heavy support against her own sex in maiden hurdle at Wetherby on Boxing Day. Shaped quite well on handicap at Doncaster next time before out of her depth at the Cheltenham Festival. Likely to make a chaser (placed on sole outing in Irish points) and returns with yard in good form.
Fighting Falcon (IRE)
Ex-Irish who showed a lot more fitted with headgear when making a winning start for this yard at Uttoxeter over hurdles in May. Ran no sort of race next time before shaping as if needing run at Worcester. Change of headgear on chase bow (third in 2 points) but may prove best on a left-handed track.
