Timeform View

A competitive staying handicap. HEROICS boasts a largely progressive profile and gets a narrow vote over fellow 3-y-o Gaspacho. The front-running Maxident revels in this sort of ground and is another likely to give it a good shot.

Timeform Comments

Maxident
Front runner who got back to winning ways at Goodwood (2m, good to soft) at the end of August. Just as good when 3 lengths second of 9 at Pontefract (2¼m, heavy) 9 days ago. Should go well again.
Ashnak (FR)
Useful sort whose sole win came in France (heavy). Plenty of creditable efforts in handicaps since coming to Britain, including latest third of 19 at York (10.3f, soft). Stamina not assured back at 1¾m.
Dancing Tiger (IRE)
Quirky sort. Presumably benefited from the freshener of a headgear change (still went in snatches) when doubling his tally for the year in this grade at Sandown (1¼m, good to soft) last month. Not in the same form at Salisbury since. Significantly up in trip now with cheekpieces also back on.
Klycot (FR)
Fairly useful winner on the Flat (raced up to 1½m) in France and did well over hurdles for current yard last season, scoring twice before good third in Fred Winter at Cheltenham. Off 7 months, shaped as if better for run back on Flat at Goodwood (2m, good to soft) 17 days ago. Not discounted.
Just An Hour (IRE)
Gained reward for consistency when returning to winning ways in 9-runner handicap at Ffos Las (1¾m, soft) last month. Creditable third of 5 over 2m at Ascot since.
Seeking Charles (FR)
Turned in his best effort to date when winning 14-runner Epsom handicap (1½m, good) at the end of August. Not in the same form when seventh of 13 back there off 8 lb higher 4 weeks later. First attempt over this far on the Flat.
Gaspacho
Won twice last autumn, including on soft. Promise in 2 handicaps on return this autumn, latterly third of 9 in a 3-y-o only race over this trip at York (soft). Bold show likely from this lightly-raced 3-y-o.
Rock N Roll Pinkie
Hold-up performer who is a 3-time C&D winner (including on heavy) but hasn't found her best form of late. Well-held sixth of 10 over 2m here latest and a further 2 lb ease in her mark still isn't enough to tempt.
Outback Legend (IRE)
Won maiden at Haydock (11.6f, soft) in May. Respectable start to handicap career when fourth of 6 at Newmarket (1½m, good to firm) in June (final start for Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole). Off since but retains unexposed potential with this trip likely to suit. Has been gelded.
Heroics
Winner of 1¾m handicaps at Sandown (good to soft) and Wolverhampton this summer. Shaped well again when second of 10 at Yarmouth (1¾m, good) 6 weeks ago. Should continue to go the right way.
Torcello (IRE)
Took advantage of much reduced mark when landing 6-runner handicap at Haydock (2m, soft, 11/4) in May but not seen again until well held at Ffos Las 4 months later. Seems all or nothing nowadays.
Marbuzet
Fair stayer on his day. Heavy-ground success at Beverley (2m) in August a standout effort of an underwhelming season to date.
Pure Moon
Lightly-raced maiden. Visored first time, good fourth of 12 in handicap at Yarmouth (11.5f, good) 16 days ago, running on. Up in trip.
