The opener can go the way of LAZZAR, who shaped encouragingly having his fifth run for this yard when not beaten far at Southwell earlier in the month. From his reduced mark, he gets the vote ahead of Insuspense who has also made a positive start for her new trainer. Marianne Mozart completes the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Marianne Mozart (IRE)
In first-time hood back on all-weather, showed improved form when ½-length fifth of 10 in handicap over this C&D 16 days ago, nearest at the finish. Form from last time has been boosted by the third since and this lightly-raced 4-y-o could yet do better.
Insuspense
Consistent for previous yard and got off the mark on just second start for new connections at Southwell last month. Shaped better than the result when fifth of 10 at the same course 22 days ago, never nearer after an awkward start. Contender.
Lazzar (IRE)
Successful 4 times on all-weather for Richard Hughes, his latest win over this C&D in March. Low-key start for current yard, but took a step back in the right direction when length fourth of 13 at Southwell 25 days ago. Interesting from his reduced mark.
Balon D'or
Took advantage of a career-low mark when making all on all-weather at Lingfield in August. Hasn't been in the same form in 3 subsequent outings, though, well held at Brighton (7f) 13 days ago.
King Cherry (IRE)
Revitalised by the application of a hood/drop back in trip when making all over this C&D in September. Bounced back from a lesser effort on turf (slowly away) when third of 12 at Southwell 11 days ago, though has the widest draw to overcome here.
Marra Donna (IRE)
Remains a maiden but was running well in all-weather handicaps early this year. Making first start since leaving Ollie Sangster, probably needed the outing after 3 months off when down the field at Southwell (5f) 25 days ago, so this should reveal more. Tongue strap back on.
Shielas Well (IRE)
Has looked reluctant in the past but was running respectably for current yard when last seen in the spring, tried in blinkers when third of 8 at Wolverhampton (8.5f) in May. Drops back in trip as she returns from 6 months off, with cheekpieces refitted.
Shining Guest (IRE)
Best effort when second in 5f classified event at Yarmouth in August. However, failed by a long way to repeat that when last of 6 back in handicap company at Brighton since.
Shaws Phoenix (IRE)
Long-standing maiden who finished down the field in 3 outings for P. Charalambous & J. Clutterbuck this season, losing all chance at the start at Yarmouth (1m) when last seen in July. Needs a change of yards to help spark a revival as she drops back in trip.
Lion Ring (IRE)
Won twice in classified company at Wolverhampton earlier in the year and returned to form in the same grade last 2 starts, third at Lingfield on his latest outing in June. Looks vulnerable back in a handicap after 4 months off.
Henry Tudor
Opened his account in a Chelmsford classified event in February. Struggled for form next few races but back on track with in-frame efforts on his last 4 starts, finishing a close third of 10 in handicap over this C&D 16 days ago.
