Timeform View

A competitive finale with the narrow vote in favour of STRONG VOICE. James Horton's 3-y-o has found only one too good on 2 of his last 3 starts and wasn't seen to very best effect when fourth over C&D 3 weeks ago. He's fancied to go well from a handy draw, with hat-trick seeking Whitesnake, Split Elevens and Herculeus others to consider.

Timeform Comments

Benavente
Won a 7f claimer at Dundalk in March but little promise on both completed starts since joining this yard (unseated rider start latest).
Zero Carbon (FR)
A 4-time C&D winner but it's now 12 runs since his last win in 2024. Thirteenth of 14 in handicap over C&D in May so has work to do returning from 6 months off.
Ziggy's Condor (IRE)
Defied a 5 lb higher mark at Newcastle (6f) in January for Richard Fahey. More positive signs for new yard when twice placed in August but has found run of good form coming to a halt more recently.
Whitesnake
Lightly-raced sort who has flourished since stepping beyond sprint trips, opening her account at Lingfield (1m) in August prior to following up over C&D 5 weeks ago, quickly putting the race to bed once taking over in a well-run race. Big player in hat-trick bid from 5 lb higher mark.
Talking Bear (IRE)
Kodi Bear gelding who offered something to work on when third of 7 in a C&D novice in August. Similar form without threatening both subsequent outings and whilst handicaps will see him to better effect, his opening mark doesn't look all that lenient.
Ash Wednesday
Had a fine spell on all-weather during first half of 2025, winning 6 times. In good form earlier this year but he's strictly been operating below his best of late and others look to hold more pressing claims. Cheekpieces worn last time are quickly discarded.
Herculeus
Yet to fire this season and went minus the cheekpieces when eighth of 9 in handicap at Southwell (7f) 5 weeks ago. However, assessor eases his grip further ahead of this with sterner headgear now reached for and the booking of Oisin Murphy catches the eye.
Split Elevens
Veteran C&D winner who doubled his tally for 2026 at Lingfield in August and backed that up with a trio of runner up finishes since, latterly when just touched off at Southwell (7f) 11 days ago. No surprise to see him very competitive again in this groove.
Beauzon
Completed a remarkable 7-timer (all over 6f) in typical fashion from the front at Wolverhampton in March. Essentially struggled on turf/all-weather since but more positive signs when sixth of 9 in handicap at Southwell (7f) 11 days ago. Hood goes back on but drawn wider than ideal here.
The Bitter Moose (IRE)
A fair 7f winner in 2025. Yet to add to it this season and recent efforts have been decidedly in and out, well beaten in a higher grade at Ascot (7f) just under 4 weeks ago. Does boast a pretty solid record on all-weather, though, and handy draw to work from.
Strong Voice (IRE)
Still a maiden but again found only one too good over this trip at Lingfield (7f) in September. Not seen entirely to best effect when fourth over C&D 3 weeks ago, keeping on when slightly short of room late on. Looks up to playing a lead role from handy draw.
Hexagonal (IRE)
Ex-Irish gelding who doubled his career tally in claiming company at Roscommon (10.4f) in August. However, went without customary tongue strap and was always behind on his recent stable debut over 1m here 2 weeks ago.
Generous Rascal
Course winner who has tumbled in the weights for new yard this year and bounced right back to his best when finishing a solid second of 11 in a 6f handicap here 5 weeks ago (clear of remainder). Kept on well then and he's of interest returned to this longer trip.
Rey De La Batalla
Dual winner over 1m here who has been lightly raced this year and he failed to come on for a recent run when ninth of 11 in a C&D contest 3 weeks ago. Mark has eased further ahead of this but need to see more positive signs before becoming of interest.
