Timeform View

DARK LIEUTENANT has been shaping up well in handicaps and the step up to 3m could be the catalyst for a breakthrough success. Juke Box Rock has to be feared if returning in the same form that saw him win on chasing debut this time last year, with Annie Button and Sneddy Eddie best of the rest in an ultra-competitive event.

Timeform Comments

Sights Unseen (IRE)
Hit-and-miss handicap hurdler who ended last season out of sorts for Gavin Cromwell. Shaped with a little promise when 8¾ lengths fourth on stable debut/reappearance (had also gone well fresh previously) at Fairyhouse. Far from certain to back that up, though.
Good World (IRE)
Veteran who won in similar company at Fairyhouse last November. Hard to be confident he can replicate that following a poor run at Killarney earlier this month, even with good-value claimer aboard for first time.
Mister Vic (IRE)
Decisive winner at Ballinrobe for Noel Kelly last summer. Showed promise when 3¼ lengths third of 14 in handicap hurdle at Downpatrick (2¾m) on stable debut last time. Return to 3m/first-time cheekpieces both look positives, too.
Spill A Drop (IRE)
Point winner (dead-heated) who has shown ability in a couple of Downpatrick maidens, finishing 6¾ lengths third of 6 there last time (runner-up ran well since). Could be thereabouts if improving for the step up in trip/switch to handicap.
Drumconnor Hill (IRE)
Low-mileage 5-y-o who has quickly become disappointing after a relatively promising start. Certainly looks worth a go in first-time cheekpieces.
Juke Box Rock (IRE)
Jukebox Jury gelding out of a useful dam. Knocking on the door over hurdles prior to advancing his form with chasing debut success at Tramore (2½m) last October. Hurdle mark now looks potentially lenient if returning in similar heart, and he's unexposed over this longer trip.
Dark Lieutenant (IRE)
Lightly-raced maiden who has shaped well since the switch to handicaps. Arguably an unlucky loser when runner-up in big-field handicap at Clonmel (17f) 8 days ago. Step back up in trip looks sure to suit and may well open his account with Danny Mullins back aboard.
Heroes Of Renown (IRE)
Veteran who hasn't stood much racing in recent seasons. Beaten much further than on his comeback/stable debut when down the field in a 15-runner handicap chase at Clonmel last time.
Sneddy Eddie (IRE)
Fair winning handicapper (1m) on the Flat. Improved for the longer trip when off the mark in smooth style over hurdles at Downpatrick (2¾m). Seemingly stretched by longer trip when fifth over C&D latest hurdle start (best forgiven subsequent Flat run). Respected but still has stamina to prove.
Lord De Choisel (FR)
Low-mileage 5-y-o. Shaped better than on handicap debut without fully convincing with his jumping when beaten 16½ lengths at Limerick (21f) last time. Worth a go over this longer trip, with Sean Flanagan taking over from 7-lb claimer.
The Ducks Walk (IRE)
Winning pointer who settled better when showing improved form to get off the mark at Gowran (2½m, good to soft) last time. Still lightly raced for his age and there could be more come if he proves as tractable on first start over 3m.
Scathach (IRE)
Well-related 6-y-o. Best effort to date when 6¾ lengths sixth of 17 in a steadily-run handicap at Listowel (2¾m). That form is hardly robust, however, stepping up to 3m in first-time cheekpieces could eke out a bit more.
Annie Button (IRE)
Resumed progress in first-time cheekpieces when winning 3m handicap at Cork in May. Back on song when 3 lengths fourth at Listowel (2¾m) on return, looking unlucky not to finish closer from a less-than-ideal position. Interesting back over 3m with headgear refitted.
True Harmony (IRE)
Winning pointer whose best effort over hurdles came when runner-up in 3m Wexford handicap in May. Has made a positive start over fences, despite not going with much fluency. Capable if first-time cheekpieces have the desired effect back over hurdles.
Tara Boe (IRE)
Maiden who hasn't stood much racing (off 22 months prior to this season). At least finished closer than previously when beaten 11¼ lengths at Downpatrick (2¾m) last time. Bred to stay this longer trip.
Head For Home (IRE)
Inconsistent maiden who can carry his head awkwardly. Recorded his third in-frame handicap finish when 4¼-length third at Fairyhouse (3m, good) last time. Addition of more severe headgear no harm for one with his profile.
Le Grand Vert (FR)
Nearly bagged a third chase win of the year at Cartmel in June. Seemingly in a lull over hurdles/fences more recently and hard to be confident of a revival here.
Katie's Casper (IRE)
Standout effort when runner-up at Kilbeggan (3m) in June. Hinted at a revival at Galway (2¾m) last month and has been dropped further 2 lb on the back of her subsequent below-par effort at Downpatrick (2¾m).
Lost Features (IRE)
Maiden who's shown some form in 2 of her last 3 handicap starts, for all she was flattered to be placed when 12 lengths third at Tramore (2½m) last time. Needs to find a fair chunk of improvement on first crack over 3m.
Whatyouwant (IRE)
Has popped up with a handicap win in the previous 2 calendar years (off 4 higher mark last autumn). Has blown more cold than hot so far this season, though better efforts have come over this trip. Makes a rare start without headgear here.
Captain Kate (IRE)
Back hurdling after failing to improve for switch to fences. Competitive of this sort of mark previously, though hard to be confident she's in form following 9 weeks away. RESERVE
Westin Pimpernel (IRE)
Lightly-raced 4-y-o. Easy to back/shaped with more promise than previously when making late headway to finish fifth of 15 at Punchestown (2½m) latest. Open to improvement up in trip on second start for top yard, with first-time cheekpieces also added to the mix. RESERVE
Butty O Brien (IRE)
Three-time winner over 2½m (soft/heavy) for Patrick Magee. Back up in trip on first start for capable new yard (purchased for only €6,000), and she tended to need her reappearance for previous stable.
