Timeform View

MINELLA ROCKETT has developed into a useful Flat performer since his hurdling debut success over the summer and looks capable of making it 2-2 in this sphere. The chief threat among those with experience could be Vietnorm, who's proving similarly progressive, with Charles Darnay an interesting hurdling newcomer for an excellent yard.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Vietnorm traded at more than 5 times Betfair SP and 2 times Betfair SP when winning on 2 of its last 4 starts.

Timeform Comments

Charles Darnay
Progressive 3-y-o. Shaped encouragingly on hat-trick bid/return (following a breathing operation) when fairly useful third in a solid Newmarket handicap (1½m) latest. Interesting hurdling debutant for connections who won 2024 renewal with very similar type in Liam Swagger.
Confused (IRE)
Fairly useful winner up to 1¼m for Mrs J. Harrington. Well below that level when easy to back/given a considerate introduction to hurdling at Chepstow on stable debut. Steps up significantly in class and presumably thought capable of better by a knowledgeable operation.
Minella Rockett (IRE)
Interesting Irish raider who knew his job when successful on hurdling debut at Limerick (2m) in July. Progressed to make it a cross-code hat-trick at Naas the following month and useful form in defeat on the Flat more recently. Better to come back hurdling and may well make it 2-2 in this sphere.
Pass The Buck (IRE)
Fair winner of a Fairyhouse claimer (1¼m) final start for Joseph O'Brien. No match for Vietnorm on hurdling debut prior to a much-improved second to an above-average debutant at Chepstow latest. Needs more again but has previously responded well to a headgear change (wears first-time blinkers here).
Sacre Chef (FR)
Successful sole start on Flat in France. Showed plenty to work on (took strong hold) when 15½ lengths third behind Pass The Buck/lesser-fancied stablemate at Chepstow (2m, soft) on hurdling debut/return. Should last longer this time and very much unexposed on second start for a powerful yard.
Timely Salute
Steadily progressive type. Chased home Moment Of Light (closely matched with Vietnorm) on sole hurdle defeat from 3 starts. Capitalised on large 3-y-o allowance when driven out to win on handicap debut at Market Rasen (19f) latest. Step into listed company probably a bridge too far, though.
Vietnorm (IRE)
Decisively completed a cross-code hat-trick when successful on hurdling debut at Market Rasen in June. Mitigation for a couple of defeats prior to a much-improved win over Moment Of Light on return to Market Rasen last time. In the right hands to keep improving and has to be high on the shortlist.
Wicksey
Fair 3-time Flat winner (stays 1¾m). Beat a couple of next-time-out winners when successful on hurdling debut at Stratford (2m). Showcased an improvement in jumping when completing a simple task at Cartmel in August. Others have stronger form but he's open to further progress on hat-trick bid.
