Timeform View

ELYAM has made massive progress for his new yard after a long absence and is likely to prove hard to stop in his hat-trick attempt. Tatterstall responded well to headgear when scoring at Lingfield so is next best ahead of Against The Wind, who hinted at a revival in the Portland.

Timeform Comments

Germanic (IRE)
All 3 career wins at Newcastle, including over C&D in January. Returned with 2 heavy defeats on turf this summer but was a back-to-form third at Leicester last time. Not taken lightly back at this venue, though career best probably required off current mark.
Adrestia
Landed the Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes at Royal Ascot off 6 lb lower in 2025. Down the field first 4 starts this season but was back to form (headgear added) when just edged out at Doncaster. Far from disgraced in a class 2 at Ascot since and respected on only her second all-weather start.
Tatterstall (IRE)
Prominent racer who has been lightly raced in recent seasons and capitalised on the drop in grade equipped with first-time headgear at Lingfield 7 weeks ago. Arrives pretty fresh for this time of year so respected off 5 lb higher.
Against The Wind
Ran well when third at Southwell on return in March. Not threatened in 4 turf starts since but did fare better than of late when ninth of 21 in the Portland at Doncaster latest. Has looked more reliable on all-weather and now dipped below his last winning mark.
Gaeli (ITY)
Stepped up on his form in Italy when winning off 6 lb higher at Southwell on return in March. However, well held last 4 starts, including both outings for this yard (pulled hard).
Alligator Alley
Veteran who struck 4 times on all-weather towards end of last year, completing a hat-trick with success at Wolverhampton in December. Well below par in 3 starts in 2026, though.
Elyam
Already proving a bargain buy for new connections (sold 14,000 gns), showing much improved form to win both starts at Southwell last month after a 2-year absence, including on handicap bow 5 weeks ago. More to come so hat-trick looks very much on the cards.
Michaela's Boy (IRE)
Not the most consistent but was a narrow winner off 2 lb lower at Yarmouth in June and best effort since when second at Southwell 5 weeks ago. This is tougher, though.
Forager
Produced a career-best effort to notch a fifth success in clear-cut fashion at Bath last month. However, just respectable effort under a penalty in a better race at Leicester and this is tougher again.
Sir Yoshi (IRE)
Sole win came in Tipperary maiden in 2024 and form has been patchy in recent starts.
Paddy's Day (IRE)
Had a tremendous 2025 on all-weather, winning 6 times, all over C&D. Hasn't quite hit the same heights this year, however, only third in a weaker race than this on his return to this venue 2 weeks ago.
Vintage Clarets
Useful at best but signs of decline this year, never really travelling (in a race he's won twice in the past) at Catterick 2 weeks ago.
Juan Les Pins
Veteran who had a good spell in the spring (winning twice) and back to that level of late, capitalising on the drop back into a 0-75 when just getting up here (6f) 18 days ago. 2 lb higher in much better race now, though.
